Cotonou wowed me!
Cotonou wowed me! I wasn't expecting the good roads, clean environment, numerous tourist attractions and the lovely people. The beach is open access and very neat. No unnecessary loud music if you want a quiet time. I spent 7 days and I'm looking forward to coming back here. I couldn't do all the touristy things because I prioritized rest. I'll be back for some more.

The first thing you will experience in Cotonou is the cleanliness of the city and how welcoming the people are. I love the hotel, Beach Sand Hotel & Resort which offered me some guides about the best spots to visit. My favorite spots are Place Amazone and Graffiti Wall. Getting around Cotonou is relatively easy. The hotel I stayed assisted me in getting the Yango and Gozem Apps for easier commuting. The hotel I stayed has a great menu, though I ate once at the Terranga Restaurant which was amazing! For solo travelers, going to Code Bar will definitely give you the ambiance needed.

Cotonou is a vibrant and welcoming city with a great mix of culture, local markets, beautiful beaches, and friendly people. I enjoyed the lively atmosphere, delicious food, and the opportunity to experience the rich culture of Benin, making my visit both enjoyable and memorable.

Cotonou is a small city with everything close by.
Cotonou is a small city with everything close by. The airport, fidjrosse family beach, Amazon monument, Erevan super u market, presidential palace, congress and parliament is around the same vicinity. Haie vice is the most beautiful and expensive neighborhood with rich expats. Yango is the cheapest form of transportation apart from the motorbikes/zem. Gozem is overpriced and the drivers can be swindlers. Most tourist sites are free to access. The cathedrals are aesthetically pleasing.

Cotonou is beautiful!
Cotonou is beautiful!
The people are so friendly and honest. Its very easy to get around with the zems (Bikes). You can also download the Gozem app to book taxis and such.
The food is very tasty how howbeit expensive.
Also its best if you can speak some French, you will barely find any english speakers here.

Most of the iconic sites to see are not too far away, including the beach! The city is generally clean and relatively low cost on transport if you use the local taxi apps; Motorcycles are as many as the population of people!
We only stayed one day so definitely too short to give a complete review. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cotonou and highly recommend it as a tour destination.

One of our favorite hotels in Western Africa. Loved the shower, good fixtures, good water pressure, plus a window with shades into the room. Comfortable bed with several pillows. The breakfast area as well as the downstairs lobby are nicely designed. Friendly and helpful staff (Blessing in particular), they got in touch with us early and also helped us get a trusted driver to continue to Nigeria. Good Wifi, everything was great. Around the corner is a lively beergarden, good to mingle on a soccer night.

Home away from home:) perfect for any kind of traveler. Clean place, right at the beach with a good restaurant and superb buffet breakfast. I stayed for four days and used it as my base in Cotonou.
Best thing about Tahiti Hotel is Rony (owner) who stepped out of his way to make you feel welcome. He helped to organize tour of the city, markets, Ganvie and also managed to let us attend a local voodoo session. He also organized transport to Ouidah and beyond.

Staying at Tempels Beach Sand Hotel & Resort was nothing but a pleasure. Very nice beds, great breakfasts made at our request and a host that would stop at nothing to assist us with whatever we needed. Add a great location close to the beach and far enough from the center of the city to provide the calm we needed after long days of sightseeing; we highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a place to stay when visiting Cotonou.

I really love the hotel. It’s situated in a very quiet and secure neighborhood. The receptionists were also kind to talk to the taxi drivers that came to pick us up as we couldn’t communicate in French. The roads leading to the hotel are very smooth and safe. You’ll definitely love it. You only need to make sure you close your doors immediately you leave to avoid mosquitoes trooping in. However, you’ll have a mosquito net in your room.
