Salvador is a magical city, mixing beautiful beaches with historic culture and lots of music. It has the typical public safety problems in Brazil, but great support for tourists and a very hospitable population. It's really worth getting to know.
I love the churches, especially the ones around Sao Francisco square and the Pelourinho area. The little shops and restaurants around this area are interesting to visit and there is so much art work available to see and buy.
Salvador is one of my favourite cities in Brazil - it’s so atmospheric. A visit to Pelourinho is a must and it’s good to stay there for at least a couple of days to explore at a leisurely pace - wandering the streets and admiring the restored colonial buildings is part of the attraction. Of course the Afro-Brazilian culture is the highlight - be sure to watch (maybe try) some capoeira - visit the centrally located Academia de Mestre Bimba, and of course an Olodum concert, also in the historic centre. A visit to the beaches and watching sunset from one of the forts or beachside restaurants is a must too and there are a number of good restaurants worth visiting along the coast out from the centre. For shopping check out the shops in the Pelourinho, and the Mercado Modelo for which you’ll have to ride the Lacerda elevator down to the the ‘low town’.
Salvador is a cultural place. Don't go expecting night clubs and parties - it happens only in the Carnival (February). The history there is so rich, starting since Brazil was found by the Portuguese. I strongly recommend to get a tourist guide when walking through the historical center. We hired one local guide there and he brought us to places that we would never imagine to exist in there. The beaches are really beautiful, specially Praia do Forte (all the village). Morro de São Paulo is also a good place to visit.
It was my very first visit to Brasil, and I haven't had much time to see the city of Salvador so I can't recommend anything to the other people. My goal was capoeira, and I have come there to participate in the great capoeira event of ACMB Academy and Mestre Bamba. But I have wandered the streets of Pelourinho, I have seen the buildings of various colours, the main of which were the colours of the ocean, the sand, the sun and the sky. I have listened to the Olodum drums and I have seen the people dance on the streets. Will I return? Yes I will!
Salvador has wonderful beaches, very nice tourist places to visit and a lot of options of good restaurants. The weather is usually hot, but there is always a nice breeze... It is a very nice place to relax!!!
Salvador
The view of Pelourinho is really stunning especially if you are in one of the upper apartments. Breakfast is simple but very nice, a typical Brazilian spread of fresh fruit and tapioca. The rooms are simple, with comfortable beds and have air conditioning. You are walking distance from Pelourinho but not in the middle of it. All in all a great option for those traveling and looking for a clean and well located place to stay. Staff are very polite and helpful and gave great local recommendations.
A huge Appartement with a beautiful interior, good beds, a terrace with perfect view over the bay. And this right in the middle of the most charming area of the historic city center. The owner and the housekeeper are lovely and uncomplicated. The neighbourhood has super-good restaurants. There is a map in the Appartement with real good recommendations and advices. My next time in Salvador, I’d go right there. It’s much better than any hotel.
i loved the location, right next to the famous ‘Blue Church. it was a really busy, but interesting neighborhood. The hotel itself was an interesting old hotel, was comfortable, and great value for money. Breakfast (for me) were very adequate and again set in a very large and interesting room. There r so many bars and restaurants only a 5 minute walk away as well as many things of historic interest.
Barra, Salvador
Wonderful hostel. Best I have stayed at in Brazil. Honestly, I wish I wasn't leaving. It is right next to the beach, restaurants and a lighthouse with a wonderful view of the sunset. You can see the water from the dormitory and lounge area. Wifi is fast, people are super nice, rooms are comfortable, food amazing (moqueca, acaraje, etc). Will definitely come back on my visit to Salvador :D :D
Other than the location, this hotel was really not nice. And out of all the hotels that I’ve stayed in Salvador this was definitely the most outdated. I have also never experienced a hotel room that did not automatically have safes in the room (you had to pay an extra fee to have one in your room). The Only Good things were the location and the restaurant was pretty good.
Fantastic hotel in Salvador Bahia, very clean and comfortable, grate breakfast, tasty food, excellent restaurant in the property, outdoor swimming pool and sunbath facilities, quiet place, huge park, fitness. Friendly and efficient staff! Beds are fantastic, you may choose from pillow menu. I have been in room 820 - great ocean view! Will visit again next year!
Salvador
Everything! I am not used to leave any reviews but I had to this time :) The staff was really friendly, seu Roberto is so kind and helpful. You really do feel at home at Pedacinho da Bahia and true to its name, the staff reflects the spirit of Salvador and its inhabitants. Absolutely delighted with my stay. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back!!
Location is great near "Porto da Barra" one of the nicest beaches of Salvador. Safe area, good to walking, jogging or just enjoying the landscape. Many food stores, restaurants and public transportation around the hotel. Easy access to historic center. Some of the rooms allow a marvelous view of "Baía de Todos os Santos"
Salvador
Amazing location, right in the heart of Pelourinho. The San Francisco church is 20m away, many options to have dinner just on the same square. The hotel is located in an old Portuguese house which defines its charm. Rooms are nice. Staff is extremely helpful and nice. Breakfast is served in the room and is cooked individually 😋
The hotel was great, perfect location near Salvador Shopping, near the beach, great pool, great breakfast, and an amazing staff! It was definitely a great value for the money, I would recommend staying here. I will definitely be staying here next time I return to Salvador!
Santo Antonio, Salvador
Fantastic place to stay for the carnival as a family. The week before the main Salvador carnival there are parades in the street outside the hotel. Lots going on but far enough from the main stages to sleep. Easy to get Ubers to the main parades.
Barra, Salvador
This place offers hotel quality at hostel prices! Everything was super clean, the location couldn't be better- literally across the street from the beach and everyone so respectful and kind. If I could give more stars, I would! Thank you!
Salvador
Everything was very clean, the beds were comfortable, you get a towel for free, the hostel is located in the center of the city, for Brazil a good breakfast, free caipirinha happy hour
You get what you pay for. Excellent price for a small room. Mostly Brazilian tourists. The guests are very demanding, which I didn't understand considering the price.
Comercio , Salvador
It was beautiful and cozy and very safe. We are vegetarian and it is hard to find vegetarian meals in Brazil so we were very happy for the great kitchen space.
A lovely hotel right in the old part of Salvador. The hotel has a very authentic look but at the same time has all the facilities you expect from a good hotel
Beautiful hotel in Salvador (old town). The staff was super friendly, the rooms are nicely decorated and The breakfast was really good!
Salvador
This is a five star hotel, with great clean facilities, very friendly (English speaking) staff, comfortable rooms (perfect bed 👌 and soundproof rooms)... We wanted to relax and rest and I think that we made a great choice. Also the location is good with great beaches and restaurants /bars nearby.
The staff is extremely friendly, courteous and professional. Cannot say enough good things about them, especially Daiane, the night manager.
The hotel is exactly what was published, not too big and the staff were great. I would recommend this for it being a tranquil place.
