Featuring a view of Gatineau river, Auberge Tom B&B is set in Chelsea, a 20-minute drive from the center of Ottowa. It was absolutely beautiful. Very homey, bright, and awesome location to get away. Barbara was such a fantastic Hostess. The breakfast was amazing. I definitely will stay here again.
Are you talking about Cantly, the town or Ecologe? The town did not register with me as it was very small. Ecologe was a wonderful place that would be terrific for anyone that loves nature or is active as we were (cycling). It is close to Wakefield and all the amenities there (including a good bike shop). We had one dinner at the Wakefield Inn and one at the "Village Inn". Both are first rate. Lunch was at a funky pub/cafe with terrific home made food called Kaffe 1870. There was even a singer when we were there for a late lunch (due to the huge breakfast at Ecologe!). One can cycle in every direction from Wakefield and Gatineau Park is just waiting with its smooth pavement or well marked trails. This would be a fabulous place to go for a winter weekend as well. I would easily suggest it to anyone planning a trip to the wonderful Gatineau area.
Cantley is nothing to write home about but the location and access to Ottawa by car was good and to Parc Gatineau. The ski resort of Old Chelsea is close by with restaurants though I did not eat out there.
While there is not a lot to do for tourists directly in Cantly, the area in and around it is pastoral and charming. There are a nice variety of activities within a short distance away, so staying in a B&B in this small community is a good launching off point.
Residential neighbourhood with the charm of the woods only 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa and for half the price. Good schools, peaceful environment and contact with nature. Ski in Mont-Cascades during winter, or enjoy the waterslides during Summer. Near Chelsea, Gatineau and Ottawa.
Cantley has very few things to explore. We stayed here because it was convenient and cheaper than Ottawa. Far better places are in Wakefield and Chelsea, both of which we visited and thoroughly enjoyed.
It was lovely to stay in such a historic home in an extremely scenic location. Although old the house is totally up to date in terms of facilities. The beds were extremely comfortable and breakfast was great. This is extremely convenient when going to Nordic Spa but I would love to come back for a weekend :) It's really quite close to Ottawa and so much nicer than staying in a regular hotel.
