The location and view is outstanding. With a complimentary breakfast, ice machine, good shower, solid heater, clean room and beautiful beach just in front and to the left (as you face the ocean), you'd need to be pretty fancy to not think the spot is awesome value for money. It ain't fancy modernised - so bear that in mind, but if you don't worry about that (which we don't) it is a WIN-ner ::)

Ferry was late by 40 minutes. A brand new ferry was just put in place and they are still working out the kinks so plan accordingly. The coastal cookery is one of the best restaurants in town. TC's is the hotel within the Town Centre hotel. They let you order food and drinks to your room if you ask. You could walk to the hotel from the ferry but it's a very steep hill so i would recommend taking a cab or driving if possible. Also, book cabs ahead. Powell River only has a few drivers so there won't be a line up of cabs waiting to pick up ferry passengers.
Loved the food, ambiance and friendliness at both the Old Courthouse Inn (great place to stay!)"and Zayka's Indian restaurant. The old Patricia Theatre was delightful to visit and still running new release and 3d movies and 'superseniors' (75? and over) get in free; Enjoyed the Townsite Brewery tour as well. All 4 within site of each other. Everyone was eager to chat and share their stories and info about the area. Easy to make a quick little afternoon trip to the picturesque Lund from here. Had lots of others tourist shops and historic places left to explore in Powell River for a next trip. Looks like a lovely beach/picnic ground and campsite in town. And interested in the big international music festival coming in 2018 with a 1000 voice choir as a finale.
This city lies on the Circle Route between Vancouver - Sunshine Coast - Victoria. Travel the Sunshine Coast via ferry to Powell River or just fly in 25 minutes from the South Terminal of Vancouver Airport. Take the ferry from Powell River to Comox on Vancouver Island. A bus is available to take you to Nanaimo or Victoria. Both cities have a ferry to return you to the Vancouver area of the Lower Mainland. Powell River is beautiful with nice restaurants and a lovely place to tour by car. A trip out to Lund is recommended. The car journey from Vancouver to Powell River via the Sunshine Coast and its ferries is spectacular!
Powell River is a surprisingly interesting community. The waterfront is awesome! The sea life that you can catch a glimpse of is wonderful! I've seen otters, harbour seals, sea lions, eagles, terns, killers whales and grey whales on my walks and ferry sailings to and from Powell River. The surrounding forests are gorgeous and 'Bear In Area' is a sign that seems to be posted everywhere even in the park right next to town. I love the Pacific Point Market for Deli, picnic and snacks and the Townsite Market for local art and the best Coffee - Base Camp Coffee!
Any outdoors person, art collector or creator, water seeker (ocean or lake), or nature lover will find plenty to do in the area. I spent time on the amazing Sunshine Coast Trail. The signage is plentiful and the trail and huts/outhouses well maintained. It is a true gem of the Sunshine Coast. Unique coffee shops and eateries abound. It's a great place to explore.
The town is superbly located on the hillside, west-facing, making for particularly long summer days and spectacular evening sunsets. It is kept very clean and attractive. Lots to do in the area. Nice that there is a little park area right beside the ferry terminal when one is waiting for the next sailing over to Comox.
Powell River
When traveling to Powell River, be it one night or several, this should be at the top of your list. These accommodations do not disappoint! Comfortable, immaculate, attention to detail is incredible! Hosts are lovely people and the homemade cookies awaiting us so yummy we HAD to get the recipe. :) We will return for sure.
The hotel is surrounded by strip malls and parking lots. But it certainly has easy parking!--and it's just a few blocks from the sea. We hear that it's hard for businesses to find staffing in Powell Rivers because many locals did not want to work. Given that, the hotel ran OK.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. The rooms are spacious and have a beautiful view of the ocean. Reception staff was extremely nice. We were positively surprised by the continental breakfast which had quite a few things and not just your average packaged breadroll.
Location, clean and comfortable. Located in the heart of Powell River and over looking Salish sea. Near restaurants and a great little coffee shop. Eagles perching right outside our window was a nice touch.

Very nice, charming hotel with a lot of history. Nice historical neighbourhood, the giant hulks nearby. Bed was comply, staff was very helpful with all my inquiries.
Close to downtown main area, nice walking around The hotel is nothing fancy. ..older style, rooms were clean. Goid place to sleep after a day of exploring.
