Must visits are the polar bear exhibit (Journey to Churchill) at the zoo & the Canadian Museum of Human Rights! The city trolley tour is also nice to do to get acquainted with the layout of the city. Lots of great places to eat! :)
There is a lot you can do as a family. I would recommend a trip to the Zoo, we had a great time. My wife and I have decided that we will be returning for a weekend “romantic” get away, which will give us the opportunity to explore Winnipeg for its adult life. Such a great destination for a short or long trip away. The city is full of rich history and everyone is so kind and nice. You have to make a stop over at The Forks, amazing food and shops and many other great adventures start there. NOTE: if you are traveling from US, make sure you bring a separate GPS or get a phone that you purchase in Canada, because none of the US carriers work in Canada. That was the first BIG obstacle we had to overcome on our first day. Best Buy is a good place to get them if you did bring one with you.
The city has several museums, good restaurants, and friendly people. The French community of St. Boniface across the Red River is well worth a 2 day visit for the walking, historic sites, family friendly cultural visits. The Human Rights museum deserves a good chunk of time. Well worth it! There are many nice eating places like Le Promenade on Provencher Blvd. we took the well connected buses often, using transfers to link our trips. The cinematheque on Bannatyne is a great art house for films!! Many fun restaurants in this area too.
We found an Outlet Collection mall and it was very nice. Also the The Forks is a very nice area to be. Lots of things to do. Children’s Museum, The Forks Market, The Esplanade Riel Bridge was fun to walk across and there is a restaurant on it now.
Big city, less traffic downtown, lots of shopping store, and many places to go around. Go to English garden, parliament building, The forks, the Canadian human rights building and and so much more to explore.
Roads were bad but we ate at Chops and it is a great restaurant. We were very unhappy with not being able to access our room at the Hansen Inn but did find another room and found our access to the medical facilities very easy. Traffic and construction downtown is disruptive and not well marked but the city has very friendly people!

Not only did they have a great continental breakfast, they also offer soup and snacks in the afternoon/early evening which was a fantastic surprise. As well, the pool and waterslide were great and the staff are amazingly accommodating and welcoming to every member of our family... furry or human! They also gave us pet bundles upon checkin with extra blankets and treats. This has been the best stay so far on our move across Canada!

The staff were great, the room was very spacious, the bathroom was a good size but the best thing about it was the bed. It was amazing. The duvet was perfect for just enough warmth that you didn't over heat or get chilly. I did go to the buffet but it had already ended for the night but I had a great salad and my waiter was so personable. If I ever find myself back on Winnipeg, I would definitely book a room here again.

Loved this hotel. Was amazing. Beds were comfy. We got a sofa bed in our room even though it was for two queens. This was super helpful with having 2 adults and 4 kids. Pool was lots of fun. Best part was the breakfast and the fact the fruit was in different bowls as someone who is allergic to pineapple it was great to be able to enjoy fruit at a continental breakfast.
