We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Bodmi. A special thank you to Anna for warmly welcoming us and allowing us to check in nearly two hours early, which we really appreciated. Our room had a stunning view of the mountains and cable car. Also, Jessica at the restaurant was incredibly kind and cheerful. We truly enjoyed our stay .

FAQs about hotels in Grindelwald

Alpine Resort and Large Glaciers

Grindelwald lies at more than 1000 metres above sea level, offering top-class ski slopes and an imposing Alpine landscape. It is located in the canton of Bern, in the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Aletsch is the largest glacier to be found in the Alps.

Although evidence shows humans have been present in the region for thousands of years, the first long-lasting settlements date back to the Middle Age. For a long period, the destiny of the village was attached to the influence of the Interlaken Abbey, until the times of the Protestant Reformation.

Tourist activity begun in the 18th century, bringing new life and wealth to the village. During the second half of the 19th century, roads and railway lines were developed, allowing a constant influx of visitors. The first hotel in Grindelwald was opened in 1888, and by 1914 there were over 30. Check the hotel map of Grindelwald and surroundings to choose the location that best suits your needs.

The village has several railway stations offering regional links. It is 20 km from the city of Interlaken, while Bern Airport is 70 km away. Whether you’re looking for a 5-star hotel, a ski resort, or a cosy ‘gasthaus’, don’t miss the Grindelwald deals available on Booking.com!

Seven days in Grindelwald gives you time to do great walks from there and the surrounding villages. Cable cars, trains and buses give easy access to spectacular views and a vast number of walks. The Coop shop is well stocked and there are plenty if places to eat A Jungfrau travel pass makes sense if you're doing a lot of journeys to other villages and using the train and cable cars to access views and walks. However, the mountain buses are no longer included.

Beautiful scenery with lots of activities, restaurants, and shops. Grindelwald First is super fun and easy to reach. The traffic noise is a minor inconvenience but there is great transportation there which makes up for it. Pfingstegg is a 15 minute walk away and it also worth visiting. We enjoyed a great fondue dinner at Hirschen restaurant.

Humbly view of nature - spectacular views.

Humbly view of nature - spectacular views. The cable car was a lot longer than what we expected, but that was alright as it just kept going up higher and higher, to places we did not think it was going to. Seeing the clouds at our level, and then even seeing the disappear and then roll back in up from the valley floor - breathtaking.

Grindelwald is definitely the most beautiful village in the region for accommodation and everything else. It is large yet peaceful, and fun without being overcrowded. I would love to stay in Grindelwald again the next time I visit this area. Thanks to the Guest Card, you can travel very conveniently on the buses in Grindelwald.Don't leave here without trying the mountain coaster and zipline at First Cliff.

There is so much to see in the region and Grindewald being right at the heart of the alps provides a perfect base location. Our favourites were Jungfrau, Grindewald First and Schilthorn. We had the Swiss Travel Pass for the entire length of our stay in Switzerland and it provided good discounts. With hindsight, I think I would get the Jungfrau pass when in the Jungfrau region - it will probably pay for itself if you are going to do all the big peaks.

Wow! What a location - simply magical The hotel is situated slightly up the hill in Grindelwald, however the hotel offer a shuttle service (free) and also bus tickets (free) to help with getting around. That hotel was warm and staff were very friendly. The food was AMAZING, we stayed with the HB option and have to say for an4* hotel the food was incredible. Hotel was clean and offered reasonable EV parking facilities. With a choice of 2 restaurants on site and same spa facilities, just made our stay that bit more special.

The place is a bit further away from the city center, about 15-20 mins walk from the train station. I appreciate it since that means you get to stay at the quieter side of Grindelwald. Hotel room is a bit bare, but you have everything you need. They also have a public area where you can use common fridge and microwave. The breakfast was a nice surprise for us, since we didn't expect the room to come with breakfast. It's basic, but it's nice -- you know how expensive the food in Switzerland is.

A spotless hotel. I got a very spacious room with excellent interior. Personnel's attitude, service and breakfast are top notch. Underground parking is available. The hotel is located very close to the train station - in Grindelwald the train station is your main gateway to the slopes, that is very convenient.
