This 3-star hotel in the center of Meiringen is just 2-minute walk from Meiringen Train Station and 2625 feet from the slopes of the Meiringen-Hasliberg Ski Area. It was clean, comfortable and friendly. It's really well placed, just walk out of the train station and cross the road. All staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was great, a Swiss meal served from 7am. Fresh loaves of bread to cut yourself, plates of cheese and meat, eggs. Add cereals, yoghurts, fresh and dried fruit, nuts, croissants, salad, jam, toast etc and you are spoiled for choice. My room was huge with a separate seating area and overlooked the main street. I heard no traffic noise with the window shut. During the day it was pleasant to leave the huge window open. I stayed for a week and never ran out of things to do. It was wonderful coming back after a long day and just to stroll across the road and be in the hotel. There was a nice place to sit outside with a beer or cool glass of wine.

Breakfast was fine- some lack of choice, but filling. I would stay here again.

The family-run Tourist hotel in Reichingen/Meiningen is near the world-famous Aare gorge, the Reichenbach falls, the open-air swimming pool and the cable car station. My wife, myself and our dog are doing the Via Alpina and our stays at hotels were limited to when the weather was very rainy. Below are the pros and cons of this hotel: Pros: Very clean, mattresses/pillows/duvet very comfortable, sink in the room (we chose a shared bathroom), bathroom shared with only one other room, good water pressure, good hot water, restaurant downstairs was very good for supper, family-run, right on the Via Alpina on the outskirts of the city giving a nice start for the next day, grassy areas outside for dog to do its business. Cons: Right next to the road and cars going by in the morning during the week can get loud for a light sleeper. That’s all.

Hotel Alpbach enjoys a quiet location in the center of Meiringen, only 984 feet from the train station. It offers a restaurant, a spa area, and free Wi-Fi. We were a family of 3. The room was 21m2, so not too big for 2 adults + 1 child, but still okay. Beds were quite comfortable. Breakfast was probably above average for Swiss standards. We found the room very clean. The hotel has its own (adequate) car park.

It was a lovely town unfortunately due to the Covid restrictions most shops were close. However Meiringen is centrally located to Interlaken, Lucern, Grimmewald. All within driving distance. Will visit again in summer , hopefully the covid restrictions are no longer there
Meiringen is a quiet community, but for travellers like me, it's perfect. I use a Swiss Travel Pass so visit different places everyday, some quite far away. I've visited Switzerland 17 times and am already planning my net trip.
Super nice comfy small town, located in a very beautiful valley with several waterfalls, from which the most famous one is Reichenbach waterfall (Sherlock Holmes). Mountains are very beautiful, many hiking opportunities.
Charming town, great access point to mountains and close enough to Interlaken that you can access activities there but enjoy a quieter and more relaxing location as your home base. There’s also lots to do in the town including the Sherlock Holmes museum and lots of cute shops.
The scenery is just superb. I enjoyed hiking in the mountains above. The area is moist and green, and the aquamarine stream flowing through town from the Aarve gorge is very picturesque. I admit this was not my first time here. The only real issue was getting here and back from Geneva, which involved too many changes of train (four times on way back! - a problem when connections are tight and carrying a heavy suitcase)
It's not the first time we came to Meiringen and we will come back. There are so many things to see and do: Reichenbachfälle, Rosenlaui, Aareschlucht, hikes... and the Ballenberg openair museum is really close by.

Due to unforeseen circumstances I arrived in Meiringen without a place to stay. But I was in luck, because this apartment was available. Within minutes after I had booked Herr Von Bergen arrived with the key and showed me around this perfect apartment. Everything you could possibly need is there - the kitchen is fully equipped with more cutlery plates pots and pans than I have at home, there is a fancy coffee maker with a complimentary tin of beans, an oven and even a microwave oven. I had a great stay, and enjoyed every minute.
Location in the centre of Meiringen near the station (though arrival was by car), close to all commodities, parking garage under the hotel with direct access to the room by lift. Good safety measures, very pleasant staff and up-to-date facilities with some exceptions (see what I did not like). Nice Italian restaurant attached to the hotel with very good food - but far too many flies to make it pleasant. Simple screens on the windows would solve this problem, and it really detracted from enjoying the otherwise excellent dinner.

Montanara was perfect!!! It was very comfortable, quiet, and private. It took only 5 minutes to reach the train station and restaurants nearby. The photos do not show the large wardrobe for storing clothing; one side with hangers, the other with shelves for folded items. There's also a coat rack by the door. The shower was very nice, too. Meiringen is in a valley, so the stars/constellations can be seen easily.
The staff was exceptional, both in the hotel and in the restaurant. The room was absolutely spotless--I don't mean just clean--I mean spotless! The location was perfect--right in the middle of town, a 2 minute walk from the train station and across the street from the Sherlock Holmes museum. They also have their own parking lot, for only 5 Franc a day, which was a steal.
Staff was very nice, room quite spacious and the views from the window were amazing. Location is also excellent, Aareschlucht and Reichebachfallbahn within walking distance (~10 min). Also behind the hotel there is the Restiturm, which gives amazing views over the city and the Alpbachschlucht, quite hidden, but worth a short trip (~15-20 mins walk from the hotel)
