Gorgeous property in a peaceful location.
Free parking. Elevator so you don’t have to carry bags upstairs.
Our room was huge, warm and comfortable.
We ate dinner at the restaurant and it was very enjoyable, wonderful service and delicious food.
Breakfast was set up at the table for you, eggs cooked to order and was a lovely start to the day.
We loved meeting Captain, the guest relations dog, he’s gorgeous!

Well visited even by local people (the restaurant). Their own products. The praline were delicious! The employees were shown on the facade of the building and the family history is an interesting read.

Located on the banks of the Fulda River in Germany’s Hessen region, Kassel was re-built after World War II where most of the city’s architectural history was destroyed. Although alot was destroyed, Kassel still features many prominent landmarks such as Königsplatz Kassel, which is a public square, the astronomy and physical cabinet of Orangerie and the splendid Town Hall Kassel.
Separating the city from the surrounding Hawk Forest is the stunning Wilhelmshöhe Palace and its adjoining Wilhelmshoehe Bergpark which features picturesque gardens, museums and the Ball House at the Wilhelmshoehe Palace.
Kassel has a variety of dining and entertainment options from the traditional Brauhaus to local and international restaurants, to appealing bars and cafés in the vicinity of Königsplatz Kassel.
The must-see museums of the city are the 18th-century Kunsthalle Fridericianum, the oldest public museum in Europe, and the famous fairy-tale Museum Brothers Grimm, who once called Kassel home.

I used to spend a lot of time in Kassel in my college years...
I used to spend a lot of time in Kassel in my college years and wanted to take my family there. Sadly, we saw a lot of homelessness and graffiti in the city. I wanted to return to Martin Lutherplatz and it was filled with homeless individuals around the gravesites and the church was not accessible. We felt unsafe in the city - not sure if staying in Wilhelmshöhe would have been better, but we would have been closer to the Bergpark there. Restaurants were good and Eckstein was our favorite discovery after spending time at the Grimmwelt. The history of Kassel and the beauty of the city were hard to appreciate when you don’t feel safe.

Nothing much here compared to other towns. Didn’t understand the Grimm Brothers museum and what it was trying to achieve. The Bergpark was good. Great for nature lovers. Three night maximum stay is sufficient.

It was easy to get around and see all the sights I wanted to...
It was easy to get around and see all the sights I wanted to see. Nice shopping area vehicle free with just trams running through it. Some nice old buildings. Lots of museums to look around, and the Grimm brothers history. Plenty of places to eat so caters for all tastes and budgets.

Attractive smaller city.
Attractive smaller city. It's almost unknown in Britain, but it has a five-year modern art festival called Documenta, which we had never heard of, lots of other attractions and green spaces - the Bergpark is a 'must' - and the people seem friendly. Then we spent our final day in ghastly Frankfurt, and wished we had stayed in Kassel.

The Weihnachsmarkt had a very nice atmosphere with good food and drinks. The city center has all the usual shops. Grimmwelt is a very extensive museum with a nice (but expensive) restaurant.
The annoying thing about Kassel is that they close a lot of things during certain periods of time. This is the second time we went and the planetarium was closed on both occasions (March and December). The Marmorbad was also closed. In March a few of the museums were closed.
If you want to go for a swim we recommend the Auebad. Mind, though, that the slides close in the evening (Kassel tradition, I guess?).

Comfortable. Good light. Good location, several stops on the tram from the train station (Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe) and a short walk to the old town area of Kassel, Documenta, and the amazing Karlsaue park. Nice beer shop nearby with some local brews, and really good restaurants in the area.

This hotel is located very close to Wilhelmshoehe station, so if you travel includes arrival/departure to/from this station or interest for Bad-Wilhelmshoehe part of Kassel, it is a reasonable place to stay. But main attractions of Kassel’s center are 3-4 km far from there.

The double bedroom is spacious, clean and comfortable. The building is beautiful. The hotel is near to main train station and the city center. What I like the most was the lobby where people can sit around reading books, playing Billard or just relaxing.

It is very peaceful. Located far from the city center, it's not a spot for a quick city walk. Instead, it's designed for travelers passing through Kassel to relax, and it does this perfectly.
