Friendly staff, cozy and spacious rooms with an amazing mattress, and a large bathroom. I especially appreciated the heated towel rack, which was perfect for drying wet clothes after snowy walks. The breakfasts were delicious and varied. Highly recommend staying here!

This hotel is great. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. You can already have breakfast at 7:00 am which is great for people who want to visit the castles. The hotel is completely free of cigarette smoke. A parking area is available. There is free WiFi available. The entire hotel is very quiet. There was a desk in my room. I can really recommend this hotel.

It's a perfect location and central for visits to the Castles, hiking in the mountains, or if you want to come skiing, it's the same, as there are more than enough ski areas around. Nice and quiet little town with some great food in the restaurants in the town

Leaflet produced by the Schwangau tourist office on winter walks was useful. The Schwangau guest card gives free local bus travel and reduced entry to local attractions. Castles need to be booked in advance to ensure entry, or join a tour group at higher cost.

The town is lovely for a walk and for viewing the painted buildings. You can also get some good beer. Prices are higher due to the proximity of the castle. The town is an ideal place to stay for visiting the castle or for hiking. The roads are well maintained, as are the cycling and hiking trails. Our visit was at the end of September, with slightly worse weather, so we did not experience any crowds.

Hohenschwangau is a very busy and very touristy place,...

Hohenschwangau is a very busy and very touristy place, especially in summer but you can still enjoy the area and visit the castles if you plan things a little. Firstly, I strongly suggest you book your tickets in advance as you must visit the castles at an appointed time. Secondly, in spite of the fact that you only have barely half an hour inside Neuschwanstein Castle and 45 minutes at Hohenschwangau Castle, the lead up times (how long it takes to get there from Hohenschwangau village, and then how far in advance you need to be at the Castle gates), you will find that you will probably take close to an entire day to visit both Castles! Allow at least 3 hours for Neuschwanstein (queue for the bus, walk to Marienbrucke for a spectacular view, be at the Castle entrance at least 15 minutes before entry, 30 minutes for the tour, another 30-40 minutes for the walk downhill), and at least 2-3hrs for Hohenschwangau Castle). While you cannot plan the weather, obviously for the best views over the lakes and the countryside will be in sunshine, but there's no reason you cannot enjoy the castles even in rain or snow, however transportation may be limited in some weather. It's a long slog up the hill to walk to Neuschwanstein (not so bad for Hohenschwangau) so recommend spending the EUR 3.50 per person to take the bus (pretty scary windy drive!) or splurge and take the horse drawn carriage! It's a nice walk down from both castles. Lots of places to stop for a snack or a meal in Hohenschwangau but of course at tourist prices!

The hotel is perfectly situated only minutes from the local...

The hotel is perfectly situated only minutes from the local town but in a peaceful setting with incredible views. Highly recommended if you are looking for a peaceful retreat with the added advantage of so many things to do. The hotel have bikes for you to explore the local area and a must is Neuschwanstein Castle opposite. We loved it and will be back.

Good location for visiting the castles.

Good location for visiting the castles. I would imagine it gets very busy in full swing summer. We were there in the week before so out of the main time. The parking for either or both of the castles was a tad expensive but not "Get another Mortgage" expensive. The hotel two thirds of the way up the hill after getting off the horse/buggy up to Neuschwanstein was a welcome and pleasant stay, both going up and coming down, from the castle.

Mattress was far too soft for me, but the room was otherwise very comfy. Would have benefited from having air con but the staff who cleaned my room was kind enough to leave the curtains closed everyday (as I did when I left the room in the morning) which made the temperature bearable overall. Staff at the hotel and restaurant were all very nice and helpful, restaurant food was very good, hotel conveniently located 3 min away from bus stop to the castles (or 40 min walk down the road).

Great apartment, lovely view from Sissi apartment but not of the castle (reckon the other 2nd floor flat would have that view). All was good, clean and comfortable beds. Bus stop to Füssen or the castles nearby though buses not quite as frequent as I had thought they might be at the end of April. Walkable (about 15 mins) to the fantastic Kristal thermal baths which were definitely worth a visit.

Amazing location! But the best is the friendly and nice people of the staff! Every single challenge was resolved by the personnel! It is a treasure hotel! I have been 4 times in Fussen that was the best experience ever!
