We were very greatful for this accomodation as we found it as a last chance to sleepover on our way. It was very close to the highway. The entering of the hotel and the room was very easy with a code key. We liked the untouchable code key system. There was very comfortable and warm inside with invisible heaters. It was so convenient taking a shower. A kitchenette with microwave and electrical kettle, but without stove. We found a set of kitchen utensils, just some nessesary things, for a couple, but that was enough for us. We parked our car in an empty space in the parking lot right in front of the hotel, for free.

We were glad that the receptionist waited for us for some minutes past 8pm as they finish working at 8pm. We travelled with bicycles and we could safely park then in a closed area within the hotel. All was perfect!

Romantic Region of Castles and Christmas Markets

Home to some of the world’s oldest and finest Christmas markets, Bavaria is the German region touching Lake Constance and the Austrian and Czech borders. Although evoking images of beer, lederhosen and fairytale castles, it’s much, much more than that.

Famous for Oktoberfest, its capital Munich has impressive architecture lining squares and parks, and several luxury Bavaria hotels on Booking.com. To the north, Nuremberg is a city of 2 halves: a picture-postcard old town and grandiose Nazi rally grounds housing a sensitive museum.

With a stately palace and gardens, Erlangen is on the Regnitz River which continues to beautiful Bamberg where one of the half-timbered buildings hovers above the flowing river. Bayreuth is well-known for opera performances of Wagner, a former resident, while Regensburg on the Danube River has a beautiful, medieval centre.

We arrived earlier than our check-in time and even though we couldn’t get in to our rooms straight away, we were able to use the pool and sauna hours before. The reception staff were so friendly and helpful and the coffee machine in the reception area ,where everyone could help themselves freely, was amazing. Our rooms were fantastic- One of the rooms was very modern and the other one was typical German style. Everything was really clean and comfortable and we had beautiful views of the sea. Breakfast was plentiful and there was something for everyone.

The staff is extremely friendly - everyone greeted us or even did some small talk. From the cleaning staff up to the manager. The gym and spa area is very clean and well equipped incl a great view to the mountains. As, I am pregnant, I was amazed how well the kitchen was prepared for that. I did not have to worry about eating anything which could harm my baby.

The Finish Sauna is one of the most beautiful I have seen: spacious, so big, I love the huge window to one side. Moreover, we loved the entertaining activities. Munich is special, the heart of Bavaria which is in a league...

Munich is special, the heart of Bavaria which is in a league of its own as far as Germany. It's elegant, sophisticated, hip and fun. I love the river that cuts through its mid-section, replete with a number of parks and even a surfing spot in the summer. And of course Oktoberfest - there is nothing like this festival anywhere else, though many places try. Buy yourself lederhösen and dirndl, dress up and enjoy a tradition that feels like you've travelled back in time.

The whole city is beautiful with so much history! We really loved the Rathaus square and the fountains and the Fuggerei annd the Dom. Our Hotel Ost am Ko was in the perfect location for exploring and was a real gem of a hotel! Highly recommend visiting Augsburg- has so much to see and experience. Momo’s in the Bahnhofstraße Strasse has the best Doner I have ever had!

In the middle of winter the main thing to do is visit the Christmas markets, which are great, though you can see them all in one day. Very picturesque town, lovely to walk around. Very cold in winter.

We visited Würzburg for a short two-day trip just before the New Year, exploring the Würzburg Residence, the old town, and Marienberg Fortress. In the evenings, the old streets and the bridges over the Main River were beautifully illuminated and impressed us even more than the lavish interiors of the Residence. The panoramic views from the high banks of the Main overlooking the historic old town are truly spectacular. With its rich history and atmosphere, Würzburg feels like a true pearl of Franconia and clearly deserves its popularity with visitors.

Beautiful Town in a perfect size - small enough to walk all over and large enough to have everything you need - restaurants (tons!), shops, supermarkets, hospital (just in case). I also love it because unlike similar ski/hike towns, this one feels a place that people live in. You see kids walking to school, people riding their bikes (winter/summer) to work/school/day - a town with a pulse! We were here on the summer of 2023 and again on 2026 winter and it was wonderful (and very different) in both visits. We love to hike, and the possibilities are endless. Paths are very well maintained all seasons, just bring spikes on winter. I love this place, would definitely return!

The hotel is a good and reasonably priced option if you have an overnight layover at Munich airport. Clean, comfortable and functional. We struggled to find the public bus (512) that takes you reasonably close to the hotel, but the ride is cheap and short and fortunately there is a shuttle service (payable) from the hotel back to the airport.

We were only there to see the castle.

We were only there to see the castle. It was a very quick trip so we really didn't explore Fussen. We were there in December, so it was cold and snowy, which was magical and we loved, but didn't spend time outdoors other than seeing the castle. I am sure summertime is much better season to see this darling town!

The first thing I noticed upon arriving in Ingolstadt is the cleanliness of the area from the moment I stepped off the train. I had travelled from Cologne through Berlin, Dresden and Nurnberg, stopping a view nights in each place, and Ingolstadt was the best ‘first impression’ of a city I experienced. This continued throughout the 3 days I spent there. The train station is located in a leafy area next to a beautiful park and surrounded by 3 churches. The city has numerous walkways and cycle routes alongside the river and through beautiful gardens. The city is extremely peaceful and had beautiful architecture and many historic buildings and sights. You will find good coffee shops and some of the best traditional food dishes in Germany. I LOVED this place and can’t wait to return.

Our highlight was a visit to Schloss Seehof which we reached by bus, using the Bamberg card. Really informative guided tour of the restored interior of the castle and the gardens including an impressive water cascade were impressive.
