Near bike path with bike garage, comfortable rooms each accessed by outside veranda, modern bathroom. Friendly welcome. Barbecue and salad buffet was the meal offered the night we were there at €25 pp was delicious included meat and fish. All sat at benches outside as was a nice evening but there are tables and chairs inside.

Romantic Region of Castles and Christmas Markets

Home to some of the world’s oldest and finest Christmas markets, Bavaria is the German region touching Lake Constance and the Austrian and Czech borders. Although evoking images of beer, lederhosen and fairytale castles, it’s much, much more than that.

Famous for Oktoberfest, its capital Munich has impressive architecture lining squares and parks, and several luxury Bavaria hotels on Booking.com. To the north, Nuremberg is a city of 2 halves: a picture-postcard old town and grandiose Nazi rally grounds housing a sensitive museum.

With a stately palace and gardens, Erlangen is on the Regnitz River which continues to beautiful Bamberg where one of the half-timbered buildings hovers above the flowing river. Bayreuth is well-known for opera performances of Wagner, a former resident, while Regensburg on the Danube River has a beautiful, medieval centre.

After making the reservation, I contacted the front office manager, Jan-Eike, to organize a special birthday surprise for my wife, and he personally handled the entire process. When we arrived at the hotel, everything had been prepared perfectly, exactly as I had wished. All the staff at the hotel are friendly, understanding, and very willing to fulfill requests. The pool and SPA areas are very hygienic. The breakfast is very diverse, the quality is extremely high, and the flavors are wonderful. The special and refined menus in the evening restaurants were ambitious enough to rival Michelin-starred restaurants. The surroundings of the hotel are just as magnificent. One of the Best place we ever stayed with Family. We arrived late at night and Leonie gave us the most warmest welcome. The staff are very attentive, and the spa and pools are great. Many indoor and outdoor facilities for the children. Breakfast is amazing. During our stay Leonie and her team took great care of us and nothing was too much trouble. We left early in the morning and received a very generous and tasty breakfast for the road too. Can't recommend this place enough, we will be back!

We went to a beer garden for lunch and then spent the rest...

We went to a beer garden for lunch and then spent the rest of the day in the old town, which was very lovely. Dinner at Hofbrauhaus was a fun experience and the food was good too. It would have been better to have more time to see other attractions in Munich but that didn't work for us this time.

We visited Würzburg for a short two-day trip just before the New Year, exploring the Würzburg Residence, the old town, and Marienberg Fortress. In the evenings, the old streets and the bridges over the Main River were beautifully illuminated and impressed us even more than the lavish interiors of the Residence. The panoramic views from the high banks of the Main overlooking the historic old town are truly spectacular. With its rich history and atmosphere, Würzburg feels like a true pearl of Franconia and clearly deserves its popularity with visitors.

If you do not know Bavaria then when you do your research...

If you do not know Bavaria then when you do your research you will find it's full of lovely towns and cities worth a visit. Regensburg is one of those for sure. I spent 3 nights here and that incuded a day trip south to Passau and it was just about the right amount of time if you are very active in seeing a place as I am.

We stayed in Bamberg for 10 days and never found ourselves bored. From exploring beautiful historical sites, strolling down cobblestone streets, lunching in one of the numerous cafes or hotels and scoffing of delicious cakes there was so much to see , do and learn. I was also pleasantly surprised at the amount of both high end and affordable retail outlets there were in the town.

Very nice town. Much more clean, open, and quiet than Munich. A handful of local museums, nature spots, and historical building would be enough for 6-7 casual days, or 4 fast-paced ones. Tram system is very convenient to get around. Downsides - lots of smokers, most places are closed Sunday.

We were only there to see the castle.

We were only there to see the castle. It was a very quick trip so we really didn't explore Fussen. We were there in December, so it was cold and snowy, which was magical and we loved, but didn't spend time outdoors other than seeing the castle. I am sure summertime is much better season to see this darling town!

It is very likely the most picturesque town I have ever visited. Every direction you turned, there was a photo opportunity! Great bakeries, shops, churches and buildings. Don't miss the walk on top of the city walls!

Garmisch is a truly beautiful place with incredible Mountain...

Garmisch is a truly beautiful place with incredible Mountain View’s. The town has an abundance of quaint buildings with interesting and individual features. A fabulous place to stroll around. Ther was a wonderful walk from Garmisch itself round a little lake. Then it was a 34min bus ride to Eibsee (a place too beautiful to do justice with words).

Lovely town with lots of opportunities for biking along the river, running and also hiking in the country side / forest. It has everything you need - good food, shopping and nature to escape into.
