Although known for the Nuremberg Trials, this Bavarian city has a stunning medieval core of cobbled streets and half-timbered buildings that wouldn’t look out of place in a fairytale. Sitting above this is the castle, one of the most important in the Holy Roman Empire. Take the steep walk up here for fantastic old town views.
Hauptmarkt square in the old town is home to an unusual-looking church and a Gothic fountain, spectacularly lit during the annual Nuremberg Christmas markets. Selling everything from wooden toys to lebkuchen (gingerbread), these are widely considered the best Christmas markets in Germany.
Other attractions in Nuremberg (Nürnberg in German) include the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, the country’s largest museum of culture and art. Another highlight is the Heilig-Geist-Spital, a medieval hospital by the Pegnitz River.
A word must also be said about its relationship with Nazism. On the south-east corner are the immense Nazi Rally Grounds and Party Congress Hall, built in appropriately domineering fashion. The excellent Documentation Centre here is a sensitive and unbiased portrayal of life under Hitler. It is also possible to visit the courtroom where the war trials were held.
Before leaving your Booking.com apartment, hotel or hostel to go to Nuremberg Airport, don’t forget to try the spicy local sausage!

A wonderfully historic city.
A wonderfully historic city. We loved walking around the city, especially by the castle.
Easy to get around on the underground or trams. There was a wonderful classic music festival on while we were there that we very much enjoyed.

It is made for tourists.
It is made for tourists. The travel guides make it sound complicated but it is simple. There is one road, Konigstrasse, that leads from the station through the old town to the castle. Everything you need is along it. River is half way along. It is the perfect city to just wander. People very friendly.

If you love medieval architecture, walled Nuremberg is a jewel. Easy to spend about 2 days here, maybe three, roaming the steets and bridges, the castle and grazing your way through town lol. Great shopping too. Just across from the train station and metro so easy to access.

Beautiful city - much of it reconstructed after WWII but some original. It has all been reconstructed very sensitively to try & look as it did & the medieval style buildings are so pretty & we'll cared for with wonderful flower boxes in the summer period.
Lovely atmosphere in the old town & great restaurants & bars. Lots of history & culture to explore! Very friendly & welcoming staff in restaurants.

You can 'do' Nurnberg in a couple of days, in my view.
You can 'do' Nurnberg in a couple of days, in my view. We only had an overnight stop, never enough to do justice tor anywhere, but by taking a sightseers' tour we got the gist then had a good meal in the evening.
It's worth noting the city was 90 per cent obliterated by bombing during the war so a lot of what you see is reconstruction.
I liked the hotel! The location is excellent, near the old town. The room is fantastic: TV, hairdryer, fresh bed linen and towels, and a comfortable bed. The renovation is fresh. It’s very nice that there is no smell of cigarettes; everything is clean. There is a small closet with hangers. The room also has a small table, which is convenient for working with a laptop if necessary, and the Wi-Fi is good. The breakfast is also great. There is a tram stop nearby and the metro is close as well. The staff speaks English.
We had the best stay at this hotel - our room was spacious, clean, modern and super comfortable! We also appreciated all the little extras such as the coffee machine, luxury soaps, complimentary water and ginger bread on arrival etc! The location is also perfect - easy walk to the train station as well as the old town and city centre. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Monki restaurant is delicious too! We couldn’t fault anything and would definitely be back!
Very friendly staff. Location - excellent, just next door to the Durer-House and the Fortress, 5 minutes walk to all sights of the city. Breakfast excellent. Plenty of eating places around.
My room had a balcony, and it was possible to sit there and relax after the long day. It was a bonus and blessing.
I was travelling by car around Germany. Nurnberg was my last stop after Bayreuth, Bamberg and Wurzburg, and the hotel was the best ever!! Highly recommended.
Very clean and very comfortable aparthotel. No reception but straightforward to check into,. Room very well equipped - excellent, quality kitchenette complete with good sized fridge and dishwasher.
Comfy bed and couch but no television - not really a problem other than being unable to catch up with the news on BBC or CNN.
Good shared laundry in the basement.
On the edge of the old town and about 10 minutes walk to the main railway station.
5 mins walk from city centre; out of 5 hotels visited on trip, this one still gave the little "free" extras of soaps, etc. which was nice (see Google Review for more info)
