Dating back to 1695, this elegant hotel offers modern rooms with free WiFi. Roskilde Train Station is just a 5-minute walk away. Zleep Hotel Roskilde offers well-equipped rooms with classic décor. Really have to give a shout out to Anders, who was on duty when we arrived. He was able to help my harried husband figure out what we needed to do to get our car off the "no car zone" street and to the convenient and free parking behind the hotel. He was super friendly when we checked in and helped us translate an email that we needed to read (that was in Danish). Just so friendly, helpful and outgoing!! The room was very clean and comfortable. And there were tissues, which are a big deal to me! The room had lots of space to move around and to place stuff, and a handy desk/chair. It is right on the main pedestrian street and not even 5 minutes to the cathedral and maybe 12 minutes to the Viking Ship Museum. Our room was also quiet, even though it overlooked the pedestrian street.
Featuring garden views, Hos Tina provides accommodation with a patio and a kettle, around 5 km from The Viking Ship Museum. Lovely comfortable apartment with cooking facilities, fridge & coffee machine. Large spacious bathroom. Comfortable beds. Supermarkets across the road. Very relaxing night spent there.
Set in a uniquely designed building, this hostel is located in Roskilde’s harbour along the Roskilde Fjord. It features individually decorated rooms with a private bathroom and flat-screen TV. Good location near Viking ship museum and close to the city centre.
I enjoyed my visit to DTU Riso Campus. The four-rotor wind turbine is so fatanstic like a seven in a science fiction movie. It just brings you into future. The lake or the sea is so broad and quiet. It calms my mind in a morning walk.
We visited the Cathedral late in the afternoon and only had 30 minutes till closing time. To our surprise it was not long enough. There are so many tombs of past Danish royal family, it was fascinating. The next morning we visited the Viking Ship Museum - absolutely fantastic. So interesting and informative. We loved dressing up too! We spent 3 hours at the museum.
The vikingship museum and the nearby site Lejre with the historic site of the forunders of Roskilde, and of course the catedral where all the Danish Kings are burried. The cathedral is more than 1000 years old and the burrielsties are just as old. We also have one of the biggest rock-festivals, which takes place the first weekend of juli every year sinde the 1980-ties, with 90.000 guests.
We stayed one night which was just enough time to visit the incredible Cathedral on the first day and the fantastic Viking ship museum the second day. Both places had lots of fun things for our children to do, aged 4, 8 and 12.
The best time to visit is during the summer. Recommended to visit: The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde The Roskilde Cathedral, Central walking area, Parks aroud roskilde central area; Nice restaurants, Roskilde rock music festival
I visited between Christmas and New Year's, so many things were closed, but it was a very lovely city and the museums that were open were fun to visit. It's a great town to walk around in and enjoy a quiet lunch by the water.
