Resting Place of Pharaohs
Born of an ancient civilisation, Cairo is a vast metropolis centred around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over it into Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.
The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artefacts, including finds from Tutankhamun’s tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.
East is Islamic Cairo, home to 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk – remember to haggle. The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.
If you want to step out of cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.
Before heading to your Cairo accommodation, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Turkish coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

the pyramids are wonderful the sphinx the museum is definitely worth visiting with the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun sitting brother the whole museum is a masterpiece. But the Egyptians themselves are fraudsters! As soon as they see a tourist they are ready to cheat him on the price many times more if the tourist is not careful! The state itself extorts you with a 12 percent service tax plus 20 percent VAT! I have never encountered this tax anywhere in any other country!

I live in Sharm El Sheikh and I love Cairo and visit it 6 or 7 times every year. I love the hustle and bustle and authenticity of downtown Cairo but equally enjoy going to Cairo Festival City in New Cairo to shop. Every time I visit Cairo I discover something new to add to my routine and the place is forever evolving and expanding. Fantastic place and fantastic people.

Cairo is amazing.
Cairo is amazing. The pyramids are all they are cracked up to be - especially at sunset. I love all 3 of the museums, although I recommend the "old" one by Tahir square when it is cooler as they don't have air conditioning!
The food is great, but eat carefully and use bottled water even to brush your teeth.
I stayed in the Steinberger hotel and recommend it highly.

The ride from the airport to the hotel was comfortable, thanks to the world class highway from Cairo to Giza.
My focus was the Grand Museum, and it did not disappoint! Whoever designed this museum needs the Nobel Prize for architecture, if there's such a thing!
Of course, the Tutankhmen Gallery was the icing on the cake.

The kindness and the heart that meets you at Kempinski on Nile is unmatched.
You feel like a member of a big family that genuinely cares for you. Everyone is highly professional. If you travel alone you don’t need to worry about anything as the Concierge team will look out for your safety and your best. Housekeeping, room service, butler service all superb.
Finally Ladies in Red gracefully follow up the totality of your stay and comfort.
I am deeply grateful to everyone at the hotel.

Very stylish/classyHotel with its own identity. Not a party hotel, subtle lighting, tasteful, mostly classical, Egyptian music and wonderful staff! The rooms mirror the class that the rest of the hotel exudes, as do the restaurants, bars and swimming pool/fitness areas. I spent 7 nights here and loved every minute. Although not cheap, it was far less expensive than other 5 Star hotels in its class in Cairo. Can't wait to get back!

Sara is an amazing and welcoming host. She is a thoughtful and caring host who ensured we had a best time in Cairo during our stay. She even went an extra mile to pick my partner from the airport at 3 am. We had a room with pyramids view and the sunset truly was a cherry on the cake. The highlight of the hotel was the breakfast which was tailor made egyptian style!

One of the best hostels I stayed at during my visit to Egypt, they arranged airport transfer from Cairo airport for me which was super helpful they also arranged a tour to Giza pyramids for a cheap price compared to other agencies, I definitely will be staying here again in the future.
