The staff was great (Badr, Karim, Disha, Shiko, Mido), really went out of their way to make us feel at home. The room is comfortable, especially the bed and the breakfast was plenty and very good. Amazing value for money right in the centre of my favourite neighbourhood.

Value for money this hands down has to be the best place to land and stay in Cairo. Super friendly staff and owner make you feel at home and take care of booking all your activities if you want that option. View of the Pyramids is insanely good from the roof top. If I could vote 11 out of 10 I would.

FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilisation, Cairo is a vast metropolis centred around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over it into Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artefacts, including finds from Tutankhamun’s tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk – remember to haggle. The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you want to step out of cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodation, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Turkish coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

If you would like to see the Great Pyramids and the new GEM, you have to come here! No VR can beat the real experience! But the fume, dust and rubbish also very visible, so probably a challenge for people who have high standards of hygiene outside those international hotel compounds. Some visitors complain about being harassed by peddlers but we have also met many genuinely friendly local people. On balance, the visit to Cairo is very rewarding for me personally.

Cairo is a very busy city, but if you know your way around it, it would be a great stay, we went to see the Grand Egyptian Museum, and the experience was amazing, the food is great as well, we had lunch at Begga, a famous resturant, and Abu Tarek Koshary.

The area around the pyramids was very dirty.

The area around the pyramids was very dirty. Too much haggling for everything. Two prices for things Egyptian people paid a much much lower rate. 1 shop even said we charge tourists the same as Egyptians and that was the only place out of 100s we saw. We always felt we were being ripped off. We were so excited about going to see the pyramids but from the start where the hotel we booked through you could not be found. Our taxi driver which we booked through you looked for over 2 hours and we had to pay him more money as he was also upset at not being able to find Magia Pyramids View Inn. This episode was upsetting and set our Cairo trip off very badly and we were exhausted and mentally worried. Then we had to pay what ever another hotel asked for as we needed somewhere to stay. We regularly use Booking.com but being let down makes us wonder for future trips and if we could ever recommend you. Being of an older generation and illnesses will always make us think twice before using and recommending Booking.com

Cairo isn’t for beginners or the faint hearted.

Cairo isn’t for beginners or the faint hearted. It was chaos on the streets, or what I would describe as organised chaos. The hustle culture can be overwhelming. There are 2 types of Egyptian that you will meet - Moses and Pharoahs. But it should not deter anyone, especially the well-travelled. Cairo is certainly safer than NYC, Milan, Rome, Paris, Madrid etc. No pickpockets but beggars aplenty, so get your spare change ready.

Cairo is a bustling city, if you're not accustomed to traffic, you will be in shock here. Drivers communicate with each other by gently honking their horns after a while it feels like all you hear is honking nonstop. The pyramids are in Giza if you're able to stay in Giza, the pyramids can seen from all around. There is an excessive custom of tipping if you're not used to it. Almost everyone who provide some sort of service will expect tipping, this can be feel less genuine when its expected. Book a tour guided tour as this will make your trip more enjoyable if you do not speak Arabic or know the language in Egypt.

The kindness and the heart that meets you at Kempinski on Nile is unmatched. You feel like a member of a big family that genuinely cares for you. Everyone is highly professional. If you travel alone you don’t need to worry about anything as the Concierge team will look out for your safety and your best. Housekeeping, room service, butler service all superb. Finally Ladies in Red gracefully follow up the totality of your stay and comfort. I am deeply grateful to everyone at the hotel.

The room was spacious and good. The breakfast is one of the best I had in a touristic hotel in Egypt. Good selection and the manager was very helpful. The location is very close to airport and city sightseeing if that is what you are looking for. We just had 1 day before flying back so booked here to do go around Cairo. It is probably far away to watch the pyramids.

Excellent location, right in the middle of downtown Cairo. Close to the metro, many restaurants and Egyptian Museum. But the best part is the staff, the guys at the reception were so friendly and helpful. We were collected from the airport straight to the hotel and there were no issues at all. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was also OK.
