FAQs about hotels in Sharm El Sheikh

Year-Round Sun and Fun

Set against the backdrop of desert and mountains, Sharm el Sheikh is a year-round Red Sea diving and beach resort. Although based on an existing village, it is very much a purpose-built holiday town, with lots of international brands of hotel, restaurant and bar lining its sandy shores.

The oldest part surrounds the Old Market, a heady mix of shisha and spices, roughly in the middle of the Naama Bay and Um el Sid suburbs. The other Sharm districts of Shark’s Bay and Nabq Bay are along the coast by Sharm el Sheikh Airport.

The Red Sea offers some of the world’s best dive spots with rich underwater life on the deep reefs of the amazing Ras Mohammed National Park. Other watersports include windsurfing, kayaking or banana boating, and the Cleopark waterpark has flumes, pools and rapids.

Other things to do include shopping at Il Mercato mall and the many souvenir stalls, karting at Ghibli Raceway, or watching a show at the Arabian-styled Alf Leila Wa Leila. Outside town you can go horse or camel riding in the desert, and visit a Bedouin village or St Catherine’s Monastery in the Sinai peninsula hills.

The Sharm el Sheikh accommodation on Booking.com covers everything from 5-star holiday resorts to all-inclusive hotels with pools, and cheap apartments.

I recently encountered some concerning situations during my travels, and I want to share my experiences to help you stay vigilant. Here are some important points to keep in mind: Airport Scammers: At the airport, be cautious of individuals offering to assist with paperwork related to immigration. These scammers may approach you, promising to expedite the process by stamping the back side of your immigration paper. They’ll ask for a fee (around $20) for their services. Do not fall for this! You do not need their help. Stick to the official procedures. Visa on Arrival: When arriving in a foreign country, check if they offer a visa on arrival. Most airports provide this service, and it’s straightforward. No additional assistance is required. Avoid unnecessary payments to strangers. Immigration Check: Upon reaching immigration, be aware that the police may scrutinize your documents. Scammers and immigration officers might have connections. At somepoint, the officer make you to tip them. They even, asked about my wallet, asked to show it. It's hard to explain the situation. Language Confusion: Some immigration officers intentionally mix local language with English to confuse travelers. The intension is to get some tips from international travellers. Stay alert and take your time to understand. If something seems off, politely ask for clarification. Taxi Fare Negotiation: In the city, taxis can be expensive. A fair rate for a taxi ride should not exceed 400 Egyptian pounds. Be cautious of drivers who try to overcharge you. Additionally, some taxi drivers may offer to exchange dollars for Egyptian pounds varying from 45 to 60. Tourist Traps: Finally, be aware of tourist traps. Research common scams in the area you’re visiting. Stay informed and protect yourself from unnecessary expenses or unsafe situations.

Mahony restaurant was amazing (food, staff and the place)

Mahony restaurant was amazing (food, staff and the place) The strip walking from main road to Nama Bay was great with entertainment, fast food outlets, restaurant, place to sit. Avoid going in the morning. Fun starts late evening.

I'm not sure if it is because it was January and possibly low season but most places were deserted. I couldn't believe it. However, the people who were about were not the nicest to black female tourists. There was no violence but a lot of catcalling names like Uncle Ben, Coca Cola and Nicki Minaj. We were also clearly treated different to others. The desert safari was so poorly organised, it is not worth going on. The Old Market has no true culture as it is just built for tourists but does have a beautiful mosque and waterfall area. The King Tut Museum is in a deserted mall and full of fake relics, so fake that you can touch them and even the ones in glass boxes had fallen off the plints but nobody cared. Soho square was lovely in the evening though again most of the shops are full of the same inauthentic tourist stuff. One shopkeeper even sid all the shops sell the same thing.

Bring ONLY USD CASH, do not try cards, especially not EUR/...

Bring ONLY USD CASH, do not try cards, especially not EUR/GBP. You must pay accomodation in USD by the law. Sharm is 100% safe, in Europe it is much less safe, then there. Police and army everywhere, heavily armed to protect tourists and very friendly and helpful to them. You might think, that there are strict rules due to the name of the country, but actually it is much more free, than Austria. Sea is beautiful and you will love snorkeling and/or diving there. You can also dive without knowing how to swim. Book everything in advance as it is much cheaper that way. Download the INDRIVE app for taxis, it is increadibly cheap there, but only if you use the app or agree the price in advance. Immediately buy a SIM card in the airport, but don't expect, that you will be able to speak on WhatsApp or even video calls, only in some places, in most of the places only texts go through. You will not need a VISA if you do not leave SINAI. In the old market, use those shops only, which are full of local people and bring EGP there. Egypt is much cheaper than Europe, but you still need to bargain a lot.

Sharm el Sheikh is a very good seaside resort.

Sharm el Sheikh is a very good seaside resort. The area around the Old Market is very nice, but the area around Naama Bay is also worth a look. You can swim well either in the bay in the southern part or in the Naama bay. The Sahaba Mosque is very beautiful, both from the outside and from the inside. We spent a beautiful winter vacation here, escaping from the harsh European winter to the pleasant summer.

Amazing service, always with a smile and willingness to help, especially Michael at the front desk. The food was good, great value for money (not 5 stars but certainly good) Room were comfortable and big. Pools were nice and clean, and the animation staff was full of energy, please note that all inclusive dose not include alcohol and you need to add 5 usd per day, worth the money. WIFI is 1.2 USD per day but good connection. The hotel is not the best in Sharm but for the cost it is above and beyond!!

It's value for money and considered to be the best cheapest hotel in Naama bay that overlooking the sea directly. I was receiving a call everyday from the reception, that they were making sure everything is ok with me and my room. The whole staff was nice specially chef Saied, Mr. Emad the restaurant manager, and the nightshift security guard at the beach gate. Animation team and night shows are live everyday. The pools are amazing and the beach is great. For sure, I will go back there again.

The hotel is in a nice location, the pool area lovely and the food good (we only had dinner there once despite being all inclusive so I am mainly referring to breakfast). However, the fresh pizza made on the seafront for lunch is amazing, the guy making it is a trooper, he does about 150 pizzas a day in 40degree heat with a smile on his face. With the exception of one of the pool.bar staff most were lovely and cheery and helpful. Rooms/beds comfy and I had a lovely sea view.

everything was beyond perfect. From the first moment we entered the hotel, all the smiling and caring staff made us so happy that we did not want to go back. We felt like we were leaving our family. We got it all inclusive and everything offered was perfect. Pools, sea, food, drinks, our rooms, cleaning, hygiene, entertainment etc. it was great. We were amazed by the hotel and Sharm el sheik. We definitely want to come back to this hotel after a few months.

Wow, this place is paradise. You are looked after by the attentive staff the moment you arrive. The hotel is immaculate, the food is great and the staff are exceptional. I’ve never been to an all inclusive before and being vegetarian I was concerned I’d be limited, but there is an excellent choice of good food and drink. Ahmed aka ‘Alex’ who serves you drinks all day at the pool deserves a special mention. Thank you Alex, from your friends from the UK x

The staff was amazing, very helpful and kind. The resort is beautiful and well kept. There is not a sandy beach but the coral reef is right next to the hotel making snorkeling and watching fish from the dock a delight. The food with the all inclusive option was good, especially for people that enjoy middle eastern food. Christmas activities at the resort were a fun surprise, including an amazing Christmas Eve gala buffet and Santa arriving on a camel.

The staff was amazing - friendly, warm, adhering to needs. Three polls (incl. Wave poll!) And slides that kept the kids busy and us relaxed. Room size and facilities were good and fit for a family. We took the hard all inclusive and it was a nice treat for us and for the kids. The food at lunch was surprisingly good. Good location. The price of the hotel gives it a high rank in terms of value for money.
