Hostal Caminito del Rey is a guesthouse set in Alora. The tour desk can provide information of the area. Caminito del Rey is 14 km from the Hostel. The Hostal was everything we wanted. We stayed here in order to walk the Caminito del Rey, Alora was a pretty little village and not spoilt by tourism. Location was good. The staff were very helpful in getting us tickets for the following day (which had been sold out online). From Alora we drove to El Chorro, parked at the south exit and took the bus to the north entrance. Walked to the entrance and waited for our allotted time. In fact as we weren't having a guided tour we could have gone in earlier, ask them at the gate.

Set on hill in the heart of Andalusia, Hostal la Molina features air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi. Surrounded by a garden, it is located in Alora, an hour’s drive from Malaga. We booked this accommodation for one night only as we knew we would arrive too late to check into our accommodation for the rest of the week in El Chorro (late night flight). Staff were friendly, clean bathroom and bedroom, great price and handy location to stop in Álora for breakfast and food supplies before we headed to El Chorro for the rest of the week.

The country location at thte top of a valley facing south west was lovely. We were only there for one night but the owners were extremely friendly and cooked us a good dinner. Facilities in the apartment were of a high quality, including an electric radiator for the chilly March evening. The next morning we had a packed breakfast and were in the airport in Malaga in 45 minutes. Highly recommended
A pretty white town with typical narrow streets which are very steep in places. Be prepared to walk and explore to get the maximum enjoyment. The castle is worth a walk up to through the narrow streets. It is small but interesting and has stunning views across the town and surrounding countryside. Lots of bars and restaurants for all budgets and tastes although traditional Spanish food is mainly available. Our first night we ate at Casa Abilo It is more formal restaurant with a good menu and wine list. The Tuna with mango on a green salad was absolutely fantastic. In fact all the food was good but some of the courses were a bit on the large size. As an example the spinach croquettes as a starter came as a plate of 6. The bill for 2 ( bottle of wine two starters and two mains) was nearly 80 euros. We also ate tapas at D'Kanas twice. A very good assortment of traditional and more unusual tapas and three choices of size. Two glasses of wine each and two medium and one small tapa for under 25 euros. If you want to self cater don't bother with the supermarkets in the very centre of town as they have a limited range but go to the Mercadonna which is just off the town centre. You can park in the underground carpark or walk form the centre of town in under 10 minutes. You can take a train to Malaga from the local station , which is on the outskirts of the town. It is also only about 14 miles form the start of El Caminito del Rey walk and the surrounding area.
Nice old town with a castle and museum to visit, plus very convenient base for walking the Camino del Rey. The Mirador Restaurant was great. Very friendly service, good food and of course fantastic view.
The actual town was a little quiet with a limited selection of restaurants within walking distance. We did however enjoy seeing it and taking in the near by sites. It was worth staying at to see the nearby lakes and do the walk- Camino del Rey
Alora is a lovely little town, very hilly in places but charming with it narrow roads, shops, produces and local restaurant. Good base to travel from to the coast, less than a hour away where accommodation is more costly with less space and less charm. A place to come back to unwind, relax and sleep peacefully.
This was our second trip to Alora. The place is beautiful and we would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful stay. The views are wonderful and from the Castle are a wow!! It is full of little shops selling everything you could think of. It was lovely.
Typical old town with good mix of amenities. Great location for exploring surrounding area and all it has to offer. Excellent choice of bars and restaurants. Easy to spend a day just in the town itself before venturing other parts.
