FAQs about hotels in Málaga

The Colourful Soul of the Costa del Sol

The birthplace of Picasso is as colourful as an artist’s palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and you’ll find your place amongst the youthful square of the old centre, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.

There’'s also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.

A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga’s most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 10 km from the centre of town.

From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you’re sure to find the perfect accommodation for your sunny holiday.

Such a vibrant and interesting city.

Such a vibrant and interesting city. Culture, archeology, architecture, cuisine, cocktails, and very laid back. It's a year-round destination, with an artesan market in the port area that expands at Christmas, beaches, great shopping, loads of museums..... genuinely something for everyone. The Picasso museum is well worth an hour or two. Great restaurants include the Italian La Ristobottega, on the edge of a beautiful square by the cathedral of San Agustin, and the more homely but equally delicious Mexican Tulum.

Malaga and its region is beautiful!

Malaga and its region is beautiful! I keep returning to malaga and spending 3 days there is more than enough, this time i spent a day and a half. But that is because i was mainly discovering nearby locations like Ronda, Gibraltar and Marbella. But Malaga offers a great combination of old town culture and history, with the sea and fun night life..

Malaga is an amazing city.

Malaga is an amazing city. We have visited many times and feel at home there. People are friendly and the food and atmosphere is incredible. There is always something going on. It would take too long to recommend all the places you can visit. Plus half the excitement is finding these treasures for yourself and make it your own special place.

We booked a week as we wanted to have some time to relax as well as explore. Málaga is not very big so if you only plan tostay in the city a week is too much, however there are some really fun day trips you can do. We took the bus to the coastal town Nerja about an hour away. This is a very beautiful beach town with beautiful turquoise water and cute little shops. We also did an organised tour of the Caminito del Rey, an impressive hike right through the canyons with stunning views also about an hour outside the city. The only difficulty we had in the city is that there are really not a lot of options for vegetarians as all meals are heavily meat and fish based, very often also containing pork which is not always clearly labelled and can be a problem for muslims.

Marvellous blend of old and new.

Marvellous blend of old and new. Vibrant restaurants and cafes and a wonderful market for fresh meat, fish, fruit, vegetables and other necessities. Wonderful architecture and beautiful old churches/cathedral. Really an all-round worthwhuile experience. Great sight-seeing and a lovely beach - just a pity the sand was so hot!!! - one can't ask for or expect more from a place. We were also on site to view the Firewoeks display at the Feria - a sight not be missed - and enjoyed a sundowner catamaran cruise out of the harbour and along the coast.

Very nice and quiet apartment in an Aparthotel in the beautiful Soho-district. Only a 5 minute walk to Malaga’s old town. Restaurants, a market and bakery nearby. Very easy to get into the apartment when we arrived after midnight from the airport. Before arriving they send us codes that unlock the main door to the building and the door to the apartment. The reception is open every day from 11-19, and the staff is very helpful. Thank you for a very nice stay!

The Picasso is a very small boutique hotel, which is very quiet. We took the bus into Malaga most days. Buses are regular and very cheap. There is a good beach and excellent churringuitos (beach bars) within 5 minutes walk, selling great food. I would highly recommend the hotel for people who want easy access to the historic centre of Malaga without being in the middle of all the hustle and bustle

Great location in Malaga - easy walk into the old town, Atarazanas market and towards the beach. The hotel has happy, friendly staff - we decided to stay there twice on our vacation (as we went to Seville for a few days in between.) our rooms were clean and very comfortable. Bars and eateries a plenty nearby.

Excellent small to medium sized boutique style hotel, with welcoming and helpful staff. Very well modernised with fine rooms. Not overlarge, but well appointed and luxurious. Great location, 2 mins form Plaza de le Merced, with cafes for breakfast and just 5 minutes walk to the centre of the Old Town.
