The Alhambra is a must. Allow 4 hours and rent the audio guide for a fuller experience. Book online ahead for tickets. We took a tapas tour with Gayle Mackie on the first day which set us up for our stay in southern Spain.
The area around Albaicin and the Alhambra is very interesting and attractive. If you’ve bought Alhambra tickets on line, you can obtain the actual entry tickets from the ticket office at the Access Pavilion Gate (far end of the Alhambra) on the previous evening before 6 pm. Remember to bring your passport or means of ID. This eliminates a rush next morning as you need to be in the admission queue to the Nasrid Palaces before your allocated time. (The entrance is to the left of the ugly Carlos V Palace.) We would not recommend wasting time visiting the Cathedral. The narrative on the audio guides is objectionably arrogant and bigoted. The building, though impressively huge, is gaudy and vulgar. A few hours spent in the Carmen De Los Martires beside the Alhambra is time well spent. A great place to eat is El Mercader, just off Plaza Nueva. However you need to book well in advance during the limited booking time around lunch time. No on line booking. Probably the best food in Granada.
From the moment one sets the foot in the old town one feels transported to a different time: the area of Albaycin, Alhambra and Plaza nueva and surroundings, it's like being in a different country and time: the palace is definitely a architectural jewel that inspires awe, and just walking through the cobbled streets of the old town and having an arab tea or a meal at one its numerous typical restaurants makes the trip to the city worthwhile. The cathedral with the tomb of the catholic kings plus a couple of very well preserved arab monuments makes this city a very monumental one. Food was excellent in the two or three places that we tried and the locals were only eager to help anytime we needed it, superb!!! If you like flamenco shows, don't miss the ones at sacromonte caves, performed by local gypsies and very accommodating towards tourists
Loved Alhambra walking round the centre, coffee culture, people. Cold in January But with right clothes on a good time to visit. Ate in Puerta Del Carmen. Coffee and Go. El Trillo. Restaurant in Hotel Granada Center.
We stayed in January but even then the city centre was busy with tourists. Goodness knows what it’s like at other times of the year. Without fear of contradiction I can say it’s best to go “off peak”. Even then, make sure to have your tickets for the Alhambra booked in advance. (Our hotel did this for us). Also worth a visit was the Cathedral and La Parque Ciencias. We did a lot of footslogging visiting historic parts of the city. Arguably, it’s best to do this on foot, risk getting lost up cobbled backstreets, but stumble on some real discoveries, rather than go round as part of an organised group.
Having visited the Alhambra a year ago I wanted to see the city. I was not disappointed. By day or night the old town buzzes. What a lovely place. I now want to return for a week to take in all that could not be seen in one day. There are so many must sees. If you love architecture this is a place which should not be missed.

Everything was absolutely perfect! The apartment was super clean and comfortable, the location was highly convenient, the owners were very attentive and hospitable and the terrace views of the Alhambra and the Albaicín were amazing! Cannot recommend highly enough. I have been to Granada many times and stayed in all sorts of hotels, hostels and apartments, this is by far the best place I've stayed in. Will definitely stay here again next time. Thank you Apartamentos Mirador Alhambra!

I like the location of the hotel. It is very close to the main street. The room is not very big but very confortable. The bathroom is almost as big as the room, which I like very much. It was a really cold two nights in Granada during my stay but the heater in the room was enough to keep me warm during my sleep. Also, the staff was very friendly and helpful in giving me suggestions on what to do and where to go.

The location & property/ room & facilities itself was perfect. A beautiful breakfast room and common lobby living room was very nice especially since we got there early and could not check in til right at 3 pm. Staff were polite but didn’t go out of the way to be helpful or give recommendations like other hotels we stayed in Spain.

While traveling Spain for three weeks, this was the best place I stayed! Super clean, nice staff( VERY helpful !), quiet and safe. I had trouble staying in Spain coz of hotels so this place felt like a savior of my whole trip.
