Highlight of our 10 days in the Andalusia area. Very lively city with buskers and dancers in the main square. We used Free Walking tours as well as booked tour of the Alhambra and found both guides engaging and enthusiastic about their city. We stayed above a restaurant in a square and felt we were in the heart of Granada.
Granada is a spectacular and friendly, relaxed city. The main tourism draw is the Alhambra and the Palaces of the Arab rulers. The Arab past has been absorbed into the present in architecture (magnificent mansions with interior courtyards) and, to some extent, culture (Flamenco, for example, developed in the Albaicin where workers from the Maghreb lived side by side with Spanish gypsies). There is a still a working Hamam in Granada. The city is famous for its tapas, which are delivered free of charge with every drink. Restaurants are varied and good. Bars are lively and there is a vibrant live music scene.
The Alhambra was simply stunning. Granada felt safe and friendly. We loved the newer part of the city too & enjoyed some of the lovely city squares & parks. Great value too. Recommend the 3 course + drink lunch menus, which seem to be a great socialist tradition in Spain!
Old Turkish areas lovely to wander and have tea Lots of Spanish tapas bars on back streets Alhambra of course Gypsy dancing Didn’t like the heat as we were then with a heat wave otherwise a great place for a few days
Its a lovely city, with a great and varied history, the Islamic influence certainly shines through. It's vibrant and colourful by day and night. The food whether you go for tapas or traditional a la carte is exceptional
The Alhambra of course ! Be sure to reserve your tickets before you leave home and know that you have to purchase an additional ticket and select a specific time to enter the Nasrid Palace located on the Alhambra grounds. We witnessed so many tourists who waited in line for the Palace only to be refused once they reached the door (several were crying even) as they had not purchased this additional ticket. You can pretty much forget trying to purchase this extra ticket on site ~ I read that they take in as many as 8,000 tourists a day and only a few people at a time (from what I observed it appeared to be 25-30) enter the Palace every 15 minutes. You need to come here prepared ~ it’s a long way to go to see them turn you back at the door.
We have been welcomed so warm and nicely by the reception which is truly exceptional compared to most of the hotels nowadays. We were given advice with where to go and eat. The AC in the room was working really well. Most of the hotels in the South of Spain have an centrally controlled AC, but this one was a stand alone AC which can be reduced to a very low temperature, which in the high summer is wonderful, considering the fact that it's around 40 celcius outside. Also the entrance was nicely decorated with plants.
The historical and architectural elements were stunning! The views from all parts of the hotel were stunning! The rooms and beds were comfortable (except for the pillows!!). Every worker was helpful, gracious, and attentive . The restaurant food was delicious and varied. Wonderful service. Great location for visiting the Alhambra- just a short walk through a park- or to visit the historic Albracin area also a short walk away. The highlight of our hotel stays in Spain!
It's a quaint little hotel located in a traditional Granada house. It's charming with beams and columns dating back some time. There is a central courtyard with a fountain. Staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable. The location is close to the central area and is close to many restaurants and shops. The room was a good size for one person. The Wifi was good. The bathroom was fairly large with a glass booth shower.
It was my best exprience to stay in a hotel during these years. The staff were friendly and sympathetic. The room was big even for three persons and with a extra bed. The room was clean and calm. The yard was besutiful and cute. The location was great near the main street and so close to historical sites of Granada. We even walked to the Alhambra and other sites. The bath was big enough and there was a hairdrayer.
Granada City Centre, Granada
Almost a perfect hotel! The room was big, kitchenware is perfect, they also had washing machine! Which is super helpful because our family had 2 weeks trip in Spain and we could wash our clothes! Sofa bed was also comfortable. The location is in central granada area, we went to the famous palace by walking! There's a front desk lady who could speak English and very nice.
Albaicin, Granada
EVERYTHING! the location is perfect. The apartment is beautiful and relaxing, very quite but most of all it is super clean with anything you may need, even a washing machine that was a bless after 10 days in Spain moving from town to town. The check in was super easy and they text me everyday to make sure we don’t need anything. That apartment deserve more than 5 stars.
The room was great for the price. I was actually surprised when I arrived to see how good it was. here is a video of the room and a commentary of my stay. I would stay here again. If the link doesn't work, use "Stay Review at Hotel Ibis Granada" THE SPAIN GIBRALTAR CHANNEL to see a full video of the room. https://youtu.be/NVJ72N4QxB4
Granada City Centre, Granada
This almost looks like a hotel! Probably the best hostel lobby/lounge I’ve seen to date. It’s very modern, hip, and clean. The beds are comfortable, too! Perfect location to access all things Granada. Buffet breakfast was okay, and free luggage storage and laundry for €6.50!
It's clearly a 5 Star hotel. Great choice for Granada. We choose this hotel to see City center squares such Plaza Nueva, City Hall and self Drive to Sierra Nevada & Alpujarrah Villages. Breakfast was fine. Staff were very helpful and Attentive.
Amazing old palace converted into a boutique hotel. The room is comfy and spacious enough, bedroom is mega comfy and the place is possibly located in the most pictoresque street of Granada - facing the Alhambra hill. Lovely.
This must be the most luxurious little hotel at the best price in Granada. Perfect location, sumptuous and luxurious rooms, clean, great staff. I won even look at other options when I return to Granada I’m the future.
Albaicin, Granada
this was the most beautiful hotel we’ve ever stayed it. the best view of the Alhambra in all of Granada! the photos don’t do it justice. just stunning, very clean and beautiful staff. Great proximity to everything.
Excellent location, near best tapas bars, restaurants and night life. Hotel offers discounted car parking which is great as there is no street parking in Granada centro. Hotel is well maintained and well equipped
Beautiful boutique hotel right in front of the cathedral. Right in the heart of the city center. Rooms were airy, bright and big for Spain. The staff was magnificent. a great choice!
beautifully reformed Manor House - with a gorgeous internal patio. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in a boutique hotel. The French Toast was to die for…
Granada City Centre, Granada
