We stayed at Hôtel L’Univers in Châtellerault on the 31st of August and had a lovely experience. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, which made us feel at ease straight away. Our room was comfortable and just what we needed for an overnight stop. Breakfast the next morning was excellent with plenty of choice, fresh and tasty – a perfect start to our onward journey. A big thank you to the staff for looking after us so well, we’d be very happy to return. — Pauline & David Stewart

The hotel is small, quiet and very beautiful.

The hotel is small, quiet and very beautiful. Set in old farmstead around a garden with everything you could want for a short stay it was excellent all around. A good stop on journey from Caen to Bordeaux - the holiday really began here

Lovely small hotel with 16 characterful rooms set of gorgeous old buildings. Room 17 is a spacious family room with a beautiful stone set floor, exposed stone walls and a shaded rear terrace. Pool in the grounds with plenty of sun beds & parasols. Great location btw towns. Choice of supermarkets under 10mins away. Great gas hob in kitchenette in corner of room allowed us to make dinner ourselves as well as eating in the hotel restaurant.

Lovely setting and gardens. Beautifully renovated rooms and exterior. Buffet breakfast was first rate and good value for money. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was closed on the Sunday we visited but the reception sent recommended local restaurants by email. Could perhaps do with fridges in room and possibly a mini bar/honesty bar to cope with Sunday when the Hotel bar is closed.
