Cannes is a great city for a relaxing getaway. Elegant, clean and secure, police is very present. It is divided in a charming old part of town on a hill with great views on the new part of the city, the promenade and the port. Very walkable city, easy to get around also by bus. There is a wide selection of restaurants, both in the new and old part of town. I would recommend “Tredici”, “Bella Storia”, “Le Caveau30” which all have Italian food, sea-food and meat. For sushi I would recommend “Zoa Bistrot” and “Greensushi”. Cannes has the best beaches in the south of France, there are many great free sandy public beaches with showers as well as private beaches which offer a range of different amenities. Hotels are also one of the best you can find, there is a range from 2 star to 6 star hotels, so you can definitely find a budget stay. For a high-budget stay I would recommend the Martinez, the Carlton while for a budget stay L’Esterel, hotel Amiraute and hotel Univers. Train station is near the city center so it is definitely very easy to travel to other small cities on the french coast such as Saint-Tropez, Nice and Monte-Carlo. However, just staying in Cannes is also very pleasant as the city offers numerous summer events, a wide range of shops and boutiques on Rue D’Antibes and Rue Saint-Antoine as well as an infinity of beaches and restaurants/clubs (I recommend the Speakeasy). I recommend getting on the little train “Le Petit Train” in the evening as it offers you a ride around the whole city with explanations about the sights and takes you up the hill to the giant sign CANNES where you have breath taking views on the city and can take photos with the sign. Overall, Cannes has it all!! Ps. If you come in May during the annual Cannes Film Festival expect to see some real action :)LisaItaly - Scored 1010
We really liked our stay in Cannes.
We really liked our stay in Cannes. Used it as a base location to explore up and down the coast. Train routes to Grasse, Monaco, Nice, Antibes and other small seaside resorts easy to do. Train was cheap (compared to UK), regular and very easy to use. Cannes has enough to explore for a few days and then you can explore the rest of the area. Had an excellent firework display on Cannes seafront (July 4th).

Wide choice of restaurants, walkable city. Recommended if you are a fan of high street fashion, as the famous promenade with high quality branded stores is this city's biggest attraction. Beaches below the promenade look very unnatural as they are separated with fences between different beach bars/restaurants, so not appropriate for natural beach lovers. Okay for a 1 day visit, nor much more to do there. Other cities along the Azure coast (Menton, Antibes, Nice) would be better to stay at and to visit Cannes for 1 day by train or car.Andrea P23Croatia
