The hotel was so well placed and easy to get to from Calais. The ‘close’ proximity to Paris makes its perfect to get to by train, around 25min, with the train station literally around 4 minutes walk away. The staff are friendly and so accommodating and the room was very comfortable, clean and on par with more expensive hotels I would say. We unfortunately didn’t have an opportunity to enjoy the evening meal and the bar facilities but given everything else I have no doubt it was good. The breakfast had a fair variety of options, it wasn’t huge but was perfect for us. We will be returning to France at some point in the next 6 months and have already said we would make Chantilly and the BW our base as we would love to see more of the surrounding area and the city itself . 🙂

The place is gorgeous, it is far from a standard hotel but instead a unique experience near amazing places to visit as a tourist. We stayed there for only one night which was too short to enjoy the local scenery.

Chantilly is marvellous! The chateau and grounds are breathtaking. We rented a golf buggy for an hour to explore the grounds and only managed to see half. There are even kangaroos!
The main street in the town has a range of restaurants and cafés. There's a great deli selling local produce.
Well worth visiting...again and again.

We decided not to stay in central Paris but somewhere further out on a decent train line and this was an excellent choice. In fact although we were there for five nights we only spent one day in Paris.
We visited Chantilly chateau which was amazing and took the bus to Senlis which is a lovely town with a medieval centre, city walls and a huge cathedral.
We also walked in Chantilly forest and saw race horses being exercised. The whole town is very horse focused and the horse museum was very interesting.
Finally there are lots of good restaurants in the town.

Lovely town 25 mins by train from Gare du Nord in Paris.
Lovely town 25 mins by train from Gare du Nord in Paris. We arrived there quicker than we could have reached most places within Paris and were rewarded with historic buildings, clean streets, plenty of restaurants and miles of forest and riverside walking and cycling. If you're a fan of France but not keen on Paris, Chantilly is a perfect short break.

A real-life town in an attractive part of (semi-rural) France, benefitting from a good range of shops, a (small) market, a significant variety of restaurants and cafes (to suit all tastes and budgets), friendly people - just a very nice place to visit.
Hopped on the bus to Senlis, the old walled town, and lunched there. Well worth the visit and the bus ride (but check the timetable and the bus stops carefully.....better, ask!!)
Bearing in mind that our trip was in late-January (when most attractions were partly or fully closed), we still managed to enjoy ourselves thoroughly.

You'd need at least a few days to see everything and to rest and enjoy the area. There are no taxis from the train station, and finding an Uber was not easy, take that into account. Getting around is better by car or bike, walking is quite long. The castle was nice and so was the horse museum. Do not miss the Pavillon de Manse - kids loved it!
Ideally situated on the edge of Chantilly, la Ferme de la Canardiere is a wonderful and tranquil place to stay with a comfortable room and outside heated pool. Our hosts were charming and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Our breakfast was exceptional with most of it homemade and from the garden.
The room was fine. I failed to book in advance for dinner and there was no table available in either restaurant. But that was my fault. We ate at the Bar. Tasty and the staff wee were excellent. Once we had assistance to move around the hotel (which is wide spread) it all went quite well.
Iv stayed at la Avenue for over 30 and it’s never been different I would recommend this hotel to any one it’s first class and service and staff fantastic
