Everything was fantastic. The room decor was wonderfully eclectic, so if you are looking for beige walls go somewhere else. The rooms are in a 15th century building, very spacious and comfortable. If you are staying on an evening where they are offering a table d'hotes do accept. The hosts fixed a fabulous dinner with good conversation for all. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Everything. The property was beautiful and close to the lovely historical town of Confolens. Amanda and Kevin were excellent hosts being both friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size and had a beautiful view over the River Vienne. A delicious continental breakfast was provided. We would definitely return to 13Bees if we were in the area again. Excellent. Perfect.

This is a newly opened accommodation, once the word gets out will be in high demand. A little oasis with wonderful view of old town. Debbie the owner put her heart and soul into this place, from decor to special touches. We were able to park our bicycles in her garage. The rooms with shared bathroom ( separate toilet) are nicely decorated , beautiful linens on the bed and millions dollar view. Breakfast was a tasty spread of quality cheeses, cereals, yoghurt and preserves, juice, fresh breads, croissants and fresh fruit and coffee. You can’t get a view like that without a bit of a climb but sooo worth the effort. It is near shops , restaurants, bars and lively plaza. Oh and there is a lovely patio sitting area with flowers and grape arbor. Any guest who scores this lovely place is lucky indeed. Thank you Debbie you are an amazing host and made our stay so enjoyable.

Nick and Mary are lovely and interesting people and exceptional hosts. Their heavenly gite is deliciously cozy, extremely comfortable, well equipped, and well appointed. The location is perfect, the river views are mesmerizing, it's a great base for exploring or for deep rest. I came for some R&R, and left feeling truly restored. Sincere thanks for a perfect stay. I'll be back!

Lovely little town we arrived just before the annual music...

Lovely little town we arrived just before the annual music festival to view a property for sale. Based on what we experienced including Confolens, it’s indoor market building, the outdoor amphitheater, the riverside bars and eateries, the well kept commune areas and helpful welcoming French and English people we are buying.

Confolens is a pretty but small town.

Confolens is a pretty but small town. It is not great for restaurant choice out of season but we would stay in the area again as we found a nice place to eat and it was easy to walk into town from where we stayed. In summer it would be a good base to explore the area.

We only stayed two nights, passing through.

We only stayed two nights, passing through. Small town with few bars, cafes and restaurants, but quite sleepy with a lot of properties, sadly, boarded up. Still had charm about it. There is a castle / château at Confolens St Germain a short drive away, or a 1-hr walk each way. Great for a short stay.

I really don’t want to review this gem of a place for purely...

I really don’t want to review this gem of a place for purely selfish reasons. Great hosts and a lovely building very convenient for the village. We stayed as part of a tour on motorcycles with a group of friends, there’s even a garage for the bikes. Had we known in advance we we would have stayed for a few days, however we will be back at some point. Try the honey while you’re there as well, it’s lovely. Highly recommended.

A very typical town in the Charente Limousine region,...

A very typical town in the Charente Limousine region, nestled between the Vienne, Issoire, and Goire rivers. Plenty of water, therefore, and lovely green and wooded landscapes in the surrounding area. Charming villages as well. The locals are warm, helpful, and very welcoming. However, the selection of restaurants is rather limited, especially outside of peak season or on Sundays.

We received a very warm welcome from Davina, the room was spacious, and we slept very well without hearing any traffic noise. We traveled with our dog, who was also very well received; he even got a little treat at breakfast 😊

Very good accomodation for the centre of Confolens. Communication from the owner was very good and friendly. There was secure storage for our bikes. The accomodation was very comfortable and suited our needs. Good kitchen space and bathroom. The garden area was excellent, private with good views. The tables and chairs in the garden are ideal for relaxing and dining.

We loved our stay, gorgeous old property right by the river in Confolens. Davina is such a welcoming host and really looked after us. She cooked a fabulous 3 course meal for us in the evening and even accommodated our preference for vegan food which was much appreciated. Breakfast was also plentiful and delicious. We hope to stay again sometime.
