Pra Loup is a really lovely ski resort. Not many English seem to make it as far down as this resort, we found the French very welcoming and eager to practice their English, our kids practiced their French on them and it was a good fun for all. The resort is big enough for a week, we have a keen 13 year old who was able to go off piste onto bumbs, in the trees, etc. It felt very safe. Next year I'd be happy to let him head off with a friend for a few hours skiing without the grown ups. I hadn't pre-booked lessons, assuming we could arrange a few private lesson when we got there - no chance! It was French holidays and all ski schools were fully booked. I had assumed they would have the flexibility of many instructors, as we have previously experienced in the bigger resorts, such as Les Menuires. I wont make that mistake again. It's a long drive from Calais, about 10-11 hours non-stop. We decided to stay in a B&B on the way back to break up the journey.
Very keenly priced, great views, outdoor seating areas, not expensive evening meal available if required, bar. The loo was across the corridor and room clean but small, bed fine, shower and sink in room. If you want clean and budget in a mountain location this is for you.
Delightful resort and amazed not more visitors when we were there. The locals are so friendly. The food in the outdoor restaurants for lunch good and fairly priced...( for lunch try the Down Hill restaurant) for dinner or Raclette go to the Cocon de Niege... food was fab! The gondola is open daily and will take you part way up the mountain. You can then walk to a lake ( about 30 mins) and back again to the gondola... or carry on walking all the way back to the village ( allow an hour plus for this) you do need walking boots as the walk down is gravelly and slipping around is easy! If you fancy it you can walk all the way to the highest peak and then back to the Gondola, but take water if its hot as this takes about 3 hours in total. On top of the walking the scenery is just breath taking so even if not walking take a picnic and enjoy the view.. The last Gondola down is at 5.00 pm in the summer. If you need a hotel stay at the cocon de niege, it really is fantastic.
The best location!! All the staff at hotel are very professional and helpful made our stay very comfortable. All facilities like swimming pool and gym are super clean and well organized.
Breakfast was basic but ok. Location has more charm than the ugly buildings higher up on the mountain in Pra-Loup. The rooms are small and old, but clean.
acces front de neige. La salle mise a disposition. le charme de l'hotel.
Good Hotel in Pra-Loup. Nothing special, but reasonably comfortable.
