Location was great to access shops and the main reason we visited, the Palace of Versailles. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We only stayed overnight so just booked a basic hotel at a reasonable price. Room size was very good.

The location was excellent amidst the restaurants, bars and shops, and only a 15-minute walk to the Palace of Versailles. I was able to park the car securely behind a barrier in the courtyard, and the charge was very reasonable.
Our room, in an annexe overlooking the courtyard, was quiet. We passed on the breakfast, and instead enjoyed coffee and croissants etc al fresco at a nearby boulangerie.

My daughter and I spent 3 nights here to visit the Chateau. We normally stay in Paris but I'm so glad we decided to stay at Royal Hotel. We received a lovely welcome from the owners and you knew they would go out of their way to help you if you needed anything. We stayed in a Studio with a fridge, hob and kettle. It was perfect for our needs: spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, plenty of room for 2 and very quiet. There is a very good bakery on the same street - Aux Pains de la Ferme with a small Monoprix very close and a larger one about 10 mins away. The hotel is very near the Rive Gauche train station. You can walk easily to the entrance of the Chateau - book the very early slots for entry and get to see this exquisite place before the huge crowds arrive. Versailles itself is an elegant and fascinating town. If you have any energy for exploring after visiting the Chateau and you love boutique shops, French "art de vivre", lovely places to eat and drink and beautiful architecture you will be in heaven.

Perfect location; friendly staff. Slight difficulty in parking before checking in, so would recommend accessing the parking directly before checking in.
Nicely appointed room, and bathroom; clean and modern with lovely decor. Price very reasonable for the location, so close to the Palace.

We enjoyed seeing the Palace and associated artwork, the estate of Trianon, and the Palace grounds. There are many beautiful statues throughout the property. Touring the palace and grounds requires a lot of walking. We rented a golf cart to tour the palace grounds. The rental was 40 euro for the first hour and 10 euro for each additional 15 minutes. The golf carts were limited as to where you could go, and it took almost an entire hour to drive the route you were allowed to travel on while stopping to take a few photographs.

Beautiful, scenic and clean city. There are many eating areas with good local food especially near the Palace and gardens. We did not use the bus services as it was a bit confusing to figure out the routes

The palace was beautiful but I enjoyed the gardens and the Grand and Petit Trianon the most. Spent almost 6 hours there in total. But don't skip the town itself as it has really nice architecture, cute cobbled streets and many shops and restaurants.

I am assuming that most people travelling to Versailles are going for the Palaces and gardens. The grandeur and scale of the palaces is immense, the sense of history, excess and wealth really hits you. Having said that, you will be doing a lot of queing and you will be shuffling from room to room with 1000's of other people poking their cameras and phones into your space.
