Ideally situated for a quiet stay but railway in centre of village connects you to so much very conveniently IE Edinburgh 30 trains daily and its a two minute walk to the station. Dundee and Aberdeen the other way.
The hotel was clean and The Staff where lovely the only problem was wee could not sit in the bar to have a drink as the tables were all booked for food So wee had to leave the hotel to go and have a drink Then come back to our room until it was time for us to go down for our meal we found it very inconvenient and strange as most off the tables where booked for locals .
Aberdour is small and easy to get round though there is a steep walk to the harbour. There are several interesting gift and art shops as well as enough eating places to keep you going during the day and in the evening. The library advertises events which visitors can join in with, for example while I stayed there was a talk about the Lewis Chessmen, followed by refreshments and craft sales. The railway station is on the main line to Edinburgh and there are also good bus services to north and south of the town for visitors without their own transport. It is a beautiful town with short walks on lovely coastal and country routes.
Beautiful place to visit. Very friendly. Loved the castle. The Aberdour Hotel served great food and was an excellent place to stay. The Green Witch shop was excellent too, could have spent a fortune in there. The Foresters Arms was a brilliant, friendly pub.
The food was definitely the best Evening meal menu had so much choice, as did the breakfast menu Just a shame that on our first night once e bar closed we heard everyone heading back to their rooms .. The walls are thin and doors being slammed! Great location just a 5 minute walk to the train station and only half an hour into Edinburgh
The proximity of the Fife Coastal Path allows for convenient access to scenic walks. There is an interesting castle here, that was used in 'Outlander'. If you want to visit Edinburgh, the train journey is 30 mins and the last train back is about 2300.
Great hotel on the high street. Staff very friendly and helpful. Loved my room overlooking high street. The room was very clean and great size bathroom. Would definitely recommend and in fact I have booked again for another overnight stay.
Aberdour
Beautiful cosy house with interesting marine decor. We’ve had a great barbecue in the lovely garden. Aberdour Castle is just at hand, sand beaches as well. It would be great staying in summer, too.
