How lovely and relaxing my stay was and how accommodating the hosts were. I arrived earlier and was treated soo well. I highly recommend this place. The room I had was massive and the bed was extremely comfortable. The fully equipped kitchen is a God send and shower was perfect
A tick off my bucket list. Having read Daphne Du Mauriers Jamaica Inn being there brought it all to life and the opportunity to learn a little more about her was great. The restaurant was good apart from having to sit on a stool and not a chair.
friendly staff ,good food , great location , atmospheric , lovely clean rooms and very modern ,didn't see any ghosts but read a bit of the visitors book and found that some guests had heard strange noises , cant wait to come again
Before visiting Alternun and Jamaica Inn, read Daphne duMauriers Book Jamaica Inn, then you will see the history and feel the atmosphere of Alternun and Bodmin Moor and the Jamaica Inn.It is remarkable, and an experience to treasure.
We were on a tight schedule and missed out on a lot. Lovely scenery and good roads though there are lots of single track lanes which can be a bit scarey. A few nice old traditional Inns as well as ruins etc and quaint villages.
To be Honest there is not a lot to do around this area, we went to Fowey, nice; then the Eden project, nice but expensive. Another day we went to Padstow, very nice, we did some Crab fishing, very relaxing; the final day we went to Tintagel Castle Fantastic day out. From the Jamaica Inn we walked to Big Willy (that is the name of the tor honest) the worst part of our Holiday was the Jamaica Inn, its in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do, the food is not great, unless you like chips, don't go here unless you want to do a lot of driving we did over 210 miles while we were in this area on top of our 540 mile round trip. We was not allowed our room until 4 pm madness!
Lots of walking if you want to, driving in a big car can be challenging down narrow lanes! Lovely scenery..were out and about most days so didn't stay local..stayed at Jamaica inn and ate there every night because the food was good. Altarnun is a good base to get to lots of places.
