Interesting and beautiful village, nice walks and views.

Interesting and beautiful village, nice walks and views. Nice beer at the local pub, didn't try the food but it looked good. Not the easiest to drive around, narrow lanes and several hairpin bends. Tricky with a low slung car, but the roads add to the character.

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin with our dog. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing break. The surrounding area was beautiful, with plenty of space and great walking routes for our dog to explore.

It is a lovely village set into a limestone hillside.

It is a lovely village set into a limestone hillside. There are woods above and flood-plain meadows below. There is a strong sense of being in nature-rich surroundings. The area is not farmed intensively. There are traditional flower meadows, thick hedgerows and extensive woodlands. The flora and fauna is typical of limestone country. There are extensive open spaces lightly grazed by hardy cattle.

The chef (Jonny) clearly knows what he is doing with well prepared and cooked food of exceptional quality using as far as can be, local ingredients and prepared in a tasty uncomplicated way making the ingredients do the talking. That doesn’t mean there isn’t lots of effort put in, there is. Lovely staff who couldn’t be more helpful. A lovely few days in a beautiful location with walks out of the door.

It is a small village with a local pub so its adequate to use as a base or for a single night travelling through. Ideal for walking trips or if you wish to have a quieter stay travel to the surrounding areas, nothing is too far away.
