Located in Castle Cary, 14 mi from Wells, Ellesmere House features a shared lounge and free WiFi. The hosts were incredibly personable and attentive! It was a warm and lovely home away from home. The food was all freshly prepared and largely homegrown. I would very highly recommend Ellesmere!!

I've always loved CC. Lived there for 6 months in 1990 & have returned several times when visiting UK from Australia but never stayed at The George. Cafe over the road to the right excellent food & value! General ambience of CC I love. And such convenient location for travelling anywhere by trains!
I arrived as a solo traveller for an overnight stay. The village was very quiet, I saw a couple of shops open and an Indian restaurant (Which I ate in). In the morning, it was lovely to see the village burst into life. Lovely shops and a small market opposite the hotel.
We used it as a base to visit old haunts and, in particular, Clarks Village in Street and it was great but having seen all the brochures at the property, we wished we could have spent more time exploring. There really is something for everyone.
Castle Cary is a lovely small town in Somerset which is conveniently situated as a centre for sightseeing. Good road and rail links are a plus feature. Stayed at Ellesmere House B&B which is highly recommended. Would also recommend eating in the evening at The Bay Tree pub in South Street where the food is outstanding.
It is a beautiful area lovely villages and houses and plenty to do in the area. Vintage market on the Sunday and also entertainment in one of the pubs at the week-end. Lovely churches and seemed to be plenty going on. Shops were great and there were two bakeries and a butchers shop as well as two fish and chip shops an Indian and pubs and a few restaurants to choose from as well as cafes. Also a museum
A very small and quiet town, felt the neighbourhood to be quite rude, no takeaways, pubs very clicky and the co op sells nothing. If you wanna get away from everything, this place is the stay for you!
