The Merchants has only very recently opened and we were lucky enough to secure a beautifully furnished room with all the mod cons in an excellent location for food and drinks. We will book again!

Can i gush about the hospitality of this place?! This company knows what hospitality is about - from the communication from the team before and during our stay, the free biscuits, fantastic quality of the instant coffee and teabags, free canned spring water and flavoured water - and they don't charge you an extra penny for taking all the drinks you need from their fridges. It's extremely well kitted out for a self-catered place! This is such a welcome change to all the hotels and AirBnBs we've stayed in over the years. We'd come back to Berwick-on-Tweed, just to stay in this lovely room and experience a good time! The comms from the team was very detailed and helpful and offered extra bookable services like massages at the room itself if we wanted. We found the location exactly as the team had advertised. Parking discs are provided but this wasn't needed in BoT as the carpark on the harbourfront, just 5 mins walk from the accommodation, was free for 24 hours. It was located on the 'nightlife' street which was full of really lovely bistros, wine bars and restaurants. Super convenient for popping up and down throughout our stay. It was a little noisy being on the 'main street' with the bars below us (with the windows open) - but some noise-cancelling earbuds for sleep easily solved that issue. Monday's bin day so don't be too surprised by the clinking of bottle collection early in the morning! The room came with good thick curtains and they've even restored the cafe shutters which worked well as blackouts for sleeping at night especially as we visited in summer and the sky never quite got dark. The room was bright, light, airy and well-furnished with solid furniture in keeping with the building and tastefully decorated with a fantastic king-sized medium-firm mattress and a smart tv that actually works!

What a lovely spotless clean room/en suite. Attention to detail was impeccable. From night lights to drinks station to furnishings! Would definitely stay again 5* The location was perfect.

My partner and I from Scotland booked a last minute Easter escape in Northumbria and we were honoured to be the first guests to stay in this newly opened and beautiful accommodation, the renovation of which has clearly been a labour of love for the owners. Full of old original features like wooden doors, handles, shutters and cornicing and tastefully decorated, it had a really luxurious, warm and welcoming feel. It was kitted out with so many extra touches : bath robes, slippers, toiletries and the biggest fluffiest white towels ever! Good WiFi connection, handy keyless entry and the very large bed was extremely comfortable. Everything down to the kitchen crockery and lovely lemony hand wash was beautifully chosen and the space well designed. Angela the owner was extremely welcoming and communicative. We ate in the neighbouring Turkish restaurant called Mavi (highly recommend!). Great location for exploring the local and surrounding area and parking in the nearby car park presented no problems. Highly recommend ! Thank you Angela and family.

We were the only ones in the hotel on this dreary January day. But Kat and Heather went out of their way to make us comfortable. It was a lovely place and the beds - even the extra beds- in our room were amazing. We all had a wonderful sleep and a great breakfast the next morning. Thanks again Kat and Heather!

Last minute booking and the staff were absolutely fantastic so friendly and helpful. Room was gorgeous clean hotel lovely and the restaurant was amazing food and the staff couldn't do enough for us would highly recommend staying with them. We will be booking again there.

Dog-friendly, clean, and cozy family room

Loved the relaxed, comfortable vibe and quirky hallways, doorways. Our room was so gorgeous and great size for a family with an incredible view of lindisfarne castle from the bedroom window.
