The Cotswold Lakes location we chose specifically was a wee peaceful escape; the town a few miles away was pretty but busy eg hard to park up but worth persevering. Lots to see and do I would recommend staying at the Lakes and visiting the town as the best combination for a family.
We loved Cirencester. Steeped in Roman history and awash with great little independent shops tucked away in little courtyards. Plenty of eateries, coffee shops etc. A great weekend away kind of town with easy parking close to the town centre. Check out the Roman mosaic floors at the Corinium museum, amazing!
Circencester was a lovely place. Had a lot of independent shops with a varied mixture of merchandise. Set in a historical background of lovely building's and a Cathedral. Just looking and taking in the history of the Centre was just awesome, going again.
Cirencester is a small market town with a variety of independent shops. Easy parking. We had a nice lunch in the Mosaic Cafe and enjoyed a walk around the town - dropped into the church, which we found interesting.
The owners who runs the cottage is friendly and helpful. The room is clean. Have to be careful when moving as it have sloping side wall where you might bang your head if you are tall. The shower cubical is small if you are large size.
Cirencester is a lovely market town with a great Roman Museum and a number of interesting shops plus markets on Tuesdays and Fridays. There are numerous eateries in Cirencester and the surrounding area and we found the Cote Brasserie In Cirencester and The Crown some 4 to 5 miles out very good.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Thames Head Wharf. The hosts, Chris and Ann, were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and made us feel very much at home. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and well-equipped. The location is very quiet and peaceful, about 3 miles outside Cirencester, with beautiful views across the countryside. We enjoyed walking across the fields to the source of the River Thames and to a couple of nice pubs about a mile or so away. There is free parking on site. We would highly recommend Thames Head Wharf!

A very friendly welcome from our hosts Anne and David who couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable. Our room had the benefit of it's own entrance away from the Pub. Whilst quite small it was very nicely furnished, the bed was comfortable and the facilities all that you would expect. We had an excellent freshly cooked breakfast on the second morning. The Inn is situated just a short walk from the town centre which is a perfect place to sample the Cotswold experience. All in all a lovely place to stay. Thank You.

After a 90 minute drive from Heathrow, our GPS found Bathurst Arms easily. It is listed as being in Cirencester, but it is actually a country inn a few miles from town. That was perfect! The pub serves as a hub for locals, and had a fun group enjoying themselves outside when we arrived. The room and the pub were exactly what you want from an English country inn, low ceilings and a warm atmosphere. The place was clean, the staff were top notch (we met some locals and really made a night of it) and the breakfast was superb.
Cirencester
Super location, very clean rooms with good food and a wonderful host to boot. Kathleen was very kind, talkative and informative, giving recommendations on places to go and eat. The hotel takes covid regulations seriously as well - plenty of sanitizer in the hallway, masks in common areas etc. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.
Barnsley House is perfectly situated in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds. There is fine walking and sight-seeing minutes from the property. There is almost no reason to leave the property, however, because the restaurant is excellent, the grounds lovely, and the spa relaxing and pampering,.
The Fleece is in a great location with parking nearby. We ate here on our first night and the food was great, as was our waiter (although they had forgotten to book us in). The hotel is within walking distance of lots of lovely shops/cafes/restaurants/bars and other things to do.

Good sized room. Perfect base for the 113 Cotswold triathlon. Nichola offered us fruit, a bacon butty and oats for an early morning breakfast. Very friendly and welcoming place to stay. Perfect spot for a long weekend.

The location was smack bang in the middle of town with all shops and food places within 100 yards of hotel. Bed was really comfy and had a good night's sleep,. Shower was lovely and a nice temp.

The Village pub is located in the village of Barnsley in southern Cotswolds - it is a beautiful building and part of the Barnsley House hotel and Spa complex - the village is quiet, few turist's but lovely to walk around with a nice old church and typical Cotswold stone cottages. The Pub itself is great with a secluded siting area outside. Our room "Bluebell" was stunning and full of everything you need with both bath and an amazing shower. Staff were friendly and always smiling. Food is very good but not quite on a par with the Barnsley house menu - guests should try both places. Barnsley house is just 5 minutes walk away and has fantastic gardens. We will be returning to the Village pub in the near future.
