This is not a great town to visit.

This is not a great town to visit. Not many nature spots or scenic routes around to spend your day out. Have met more friendly people in other places. Best part was leaving the town. In comparison, Whalley was much better.

The area is so full of industrial heritage sights and Holmes Mill could easily fill a day. I'd recommend arriving for lunch at the fantastic Bowland Beer Hall, check-in to the Spinning Block boutique hotel, exploring the area, have dinner back at the Bowland Beer Hall then taking a film at the Everyman Theatre. Enjoy a great breakfast at the hotel then finish off the exploring before departure the following day.

We love Clitheroe, as we used to reside there.

We love Clitheroe, as we used to reside there. There are plenty of restaurants, and the added bonus of having several small shops, which are a welcome treat as there are so many places where there aren't any small retailers these days, and not everyone wants supermarket shopping especially at Christmas time. Clitheroe is good for walking around, seeing the castle is a bonus, too if you can 'do ' hills okay !

An attractive market town surrounded by beautiful countryside. Lots of independent shops. It does have steep hills so not good for those with mobility difficulties. Lots of parking, reasonable pay and display charges.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay at Pendle View Retreat. The lodge was clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. Comfortable bed, and we loved the large rainfall shower. The outdoor seating area was lovely, with views overlooking the surrounding hills and the lake. The area is enclosed for anyone who takes their dog. The area has some lovely walks. Nearby Clitheroe is worth a visit. The holiday park is easy to find, just off the main road. Highly recommend. We would definitely like to return.

Friendliness of staff . Eager to answer our queries to help our trip . Parking is a problem nearby . Receptionist did her best to help us sort this . Even offered us her own parking space when she was going off duty . Emporium nearby is an excellent restaurant nearby and hotel offer 15%off for their guests . Location to nearby coffee shop Bowmill is an added advantage too . Breakfast was very reasonable .

Warm welcome on arrival, beautiful view from room, best scrambled eggs I’ve ever tasted. Cosy log fires around the hotel and bar area. Janet the owner was so lovely. Staff were very professional and friendly. Loved the outside spaces with individual areas to relax including pizza ovens! Fabulous stay, will return in summer to see the grounds in their full glory!
