The town is lovely and there is a strong sense of community.

The town is lovely and there is a strong sense of community. We loved the independent shops especially Book-ish, Panda’s Paper Boutique and Webbs. The local cafes are really good, we went to Book-ish and Halo, and there is a wonderful shop selling restored tools near Halo. We stayed at The Bear Hotel, which was lovely.

The accommodation is lovely and staff very friendly, however it was a Sunday evening so the restaurant was closed and we had a meal in the bar. Unfortunately even though we were guests and gave our room number when asked on arrival and as we ordered our food, having chosen a bottle of wine to accompany our meal, the waiter refused to get that for us so I had to leave me meal cooling while I joined a queue of people at the bar. This ruined the experience for us as it was not at all what we would expect.

It seemed like all the non residents in town were either on their way to a hike or coming from a hike. The tourist information center was a great help. Upstairs they have a really nice art gallery and archive center. The city car park is right behind the tourist information center.

Beautiful countryside, perfect for walking.

Beautiful countryside, perfect for walking. The Tourist Information centre (CRiC) is well worth a visit. They have guides to the town and nearby walks. The food in the local hotels is very good but you will need to travel to Abergavenny or Brecon if you are self-catering and need to do a big shop.

Good local town. Plenty of eating places.

Good local town. Plenty of eating places. Pleasant area for walking and nearby places of interest in visit. We chose to eat breakfast and evening meal at our hotel and just had coffee or drinks in local pubs and cafes. As we're seniors we can only recommend on that basis. We were lucky to have excellent weather during our stay.

Very well laid out to and comfortably furnished. The Studio had everything we needed for our stay. The garage with washing machine was a bonus and perfect for longer stays. Great location a very short walk into Crickhowell. Will definitely stay again next time we are in the Brecon Beacons. Keith, the host, was very helpful.

Lovely staff, very welcoming and helpful. Great location for exploring the Brecon Beacons area. Good breakfasts with lots of choice. Evening meals available, good selection of food and drink. Adequate car parking, though it has a daunting exit and entry. There are a couple of other good restaurants nearby (but not on a Monday).
