Nice city with some sightseeing, Gloucester Quays is worth a visit as is the Cathedral , the food outlets on the quays are plentiful, we had a lovely meal at the Anatolian palace, easy walking around the city, it’s also a good place to use as a base to visit surrounding towns.

A very interesting city with good and bad parts.
A very interesting city with good and bad parts. There are plenty of shops with a good mix of local and national outlets.
The Cathedral is well worth a visit and St Mary's church is a little gem.
The Quay's area is full of restaurants and is the place to go for food.
Parts of the city look in need of care and attention

Gloucester has been an important centre for at least 1500...
Gloucester has been an important centre for at least 1500 years and it was interesting to search out features that have survived from earlier ages and to see the extent to which the original Roman layout can still be seen in the centre of the city. The Cathedral is magnificent. We enjoyed lunch in the Fountain Inn on Westgate. The re-development of the docks has been done very well to provide modern accommodation and hospitality facilities.

The town is not particularly salubrious on the east edge...
The town is not particularly salubrious on the east edge where the Central Hotel is located. We arrived to find eight police cars and vans attending an altercation of some sort. The town gets better the closer you get to the river, especially the renovated docks are. That's where a lot of the good food is (Brewhouse & Kitchen, Dr Foster's).

The accessibility of places of interest is good; Cathedral, docks, historical buildings and shopping areas all within easy walking distance of each other and well worth visiting.
Plenty of choice of venues for meals or snacks
Also good bus services if you want to go further than just exploring the city.

Great to have been to several amazing Three Choirs Festival...
Great to have been to several amazing Three Choirs Festival concerts at the cathedral etc. Lovely to walk around the city - including the docks (to see the Ivor Gurney beacon) which are so close to the centre and several nice places there to eat (we had pizzas at Bella Mia - relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and food, and great view over the docks).

An excellent location, though Gloucester town centre can be loud on Saturday night and there's a bar over the road from the hotel which seems to have a licence until 3:00 am, so ask for a room at the back. A special mention for Tegan, who was very helpful. the room has everything you need for a comfortable stay and the microwave in the room, complements the Tesco directly across the street.

Better than expected. Excellent value for money. Centrally located, ideal for exploring Gloucester. Easily accessible parking just next to the hotel, free at night and only GBP 8 for the day. The room was spacious and well equipped with a fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee, tea, and cookies. The shower was comfortable. Polite staff and fast check-in and out.

Had a lovely stay at the Edward Hotel, location was great for our needs, only a short walk to town centre and Quays. Host were lovely, breakfast was good too. Car park at back of property was big so plenty of room. Room was clean and tidy and everything you would need

Great location with convenient parking and both the city centre and Gloucester quays in easy walking distance. Quiet and clean throughout and some thoughtful snacks that went down well after a long drive.
