Mandolay Hotel Guildford, hotel in Guildford

Welcome to The Mandolay, where history intertwines with luxury in the heart of Guildford.

We booked a double room but was upgraded to an Executive Double (ED) room on arrival. The room was very well equipped and furnished. I'll definitely consider paying the extra for the ED next time. We didn't eat at the Mandolay but had drinks in the bar which is very good in terms of layout, fittings and atmosphere. For a short trip to visit Guildford and the area this was perfect. Everything is walkable.

The Angel Posting House & Livery, hotel in Guildford

Located within the historic, cobbled high street of Guildford, The Angel Posting House offers individually furnished, luxurious rooms and four-poster beds, just 5 minutes’ walk from Guildford Rail...

The rooms are very grand and were clearly decorated and furnished to a high standard, maybe in the 90s or early 2000s. The hotel was easy to get to although the name (Angel Posting House and Livery) as opposed to Angel Hotel was confusing.

Historic market town centre with castle and grounds plus several old buildings of historical interest around the town. It's also close to the Watts Gallery and chapel which are well worth a day's visit. There are pubs and walks along the riverside right on the edge of town.

I visited the Watts Gallery & Artists Village including Mary Watts chapel. It's near the village of Compton. Took bus No.46 from Bus Station (stand 5) leaving at 10:15am. The place opens at 10:30am and spent a great four hours there. Check out official website, especially if interested in 19th century English arts & crafts movement. Guildford town centre has lots of alley ways off the very long High Street that were interesting to explore; varied restaurants, bars and shopping.

I was there for business, not as a tourist, so cannot comment in detail. The traffic can be very troublesome. The property where I stayed was outside the main town centre, which would cause me to choose it again.

Firstly, Guildford is a very busy little town, with a dual carriageway splitting the place in two. The cathedral is definitely worth a visit, stunning architecture and views of the surrounding area. Lots of choice for dining and drinking. If you like a trad pub with good choice of beer and live music, then try the Star on Quarry Street. Recommended.

    Small town vibe.

Small town vibe. Very vibrant and l enjoyed the delicious cuisines. I don't like the fact that everything shuts down at 6pm even on a weekend. The closing time should be looked into, especially on the weekends.

Guildford Is a very busy working small Town, full of up and down in its Hills. In Asperion hotel i found a nice Place to stay small but with a classy touch, the bed was incredibly confortable following the British standard, modern forniture in a renewed house, nothing missing, the young lady incharged at the reception was very kind in every assistance request. Confortable check out. Tasty breakfast with fresh cut fruit Salad a la carte menu and no gluten bread.
