The Mandolay is a terrric hotel. The staff took great care to arrange an extra night for us, the breakfast food is exceptional, the rooms are large and very pretty with plenty of closet space, a lovely bathroom and a nice firm bed. The room was spotlessly clean and well ventilated with windows that open.

First of all, Asperion Hotel has a prime location. 10 minute walk from the city centre, it is so centrally located that everything is a brief walk away. It is five minutes from the rail station, and ten from the high street and the Friary shopping centre. Just have in mind, for those of you who don't know Guildford, it is full of steep roads! Arrived in the afternoon, before my check-in time, but the receptionist, who was very kind and cheerful let me check-in into my room. All ladies at reception, including the manager were excellent, very polite and very helpful! I was informed about the breakfast upon my check-in: they have a hot menu selection, with top of the notch choices, and you select from the night before what you want to eat and the time you want to have breakfast. So there is no waste of food. Moreover, there is a nice dinner menu selection as well. What i tried for breakfast was delicious (omelet with mushrooms, tomato and cheese, scrambled eggs and salmon! My room was in the ground floor, room no. 4. Nicely decorated room, with modern bathroom, and a shower with excellent water pressure! The bed mattress was very comfortable mattress too. At the hotel's entrance they have a small lounge, with a 'help yourself' mini bar, with a variety of drinks, and some snacks, you just note down if you use anything. Rooms are carpeted, which sometimes can be a negative, but the carpet was very clean. Housekeeping service daily, with high cleaning standards! If I could find something negative to say, it would be the teeniest detail - the bed could be made better! Imagine how perfect everything was! A small hotel that pays attention to detail. When I visit Guildford again, this is definitely the place I will be staying!

Well I am biased because I grew up in Guildford.

Well I am biased because I grew up in Guildford. But it has everything. A lovely town steeped in history, with a river running through it. The famous cathedral. Many fine pubs and restuarants and thriving shop centre. Excellent fast rail links to London and coast. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, with many fine walks. Go to St Martha's from where you can see 9 counties !

Guildford has a great location in the heart of the North...

Guildford has a great location in the heart of the North Downs/Surrey Hills, plenty of great views in all directions from the various rises in and around the town. Highlights include: The beautiful castle grounds with 'Alice, Through the Looking glass' statue. St Catherine's chapel ruins and riverside walk back into town from there. Following in the footsteps of 'Alice in Wonderland' author Lewis Carroll. The nearby West Horsley Place, where 'Ghosts' was filmed.

We've always enjoyed visiting Guildford.

We've always enjoyed visiting Guildford. The walks along the River or a stroll through the Guildford castle park are really pretty as is the Guildford museum. The old town has some really nice shops and places to eat. The GLive has wonderful performances before moving on to London's West End. The Hogh Street has many stores/shops as does the Frairy Shopping Center. Parking is sometimes difficult but there are several majority run parking areas. Love the City...there is a good University and an excellent Hospital...Royal Surrey County Hospital. The train station at Guildford connects directly with Gatwick Airport and has also trains to London Waterloo through Woking.

Our 2 day overnight stay in Guidford was fabulous!

Our 2 day overnight stay in Guidford was fabulous! We enjoyed the busyness of the high street which had moderate to high-end stores for everyone. The myriad of restaurants that line the streets was also fascinating. We opted to dine at the KTown Korean restaurant for one night and the Mandarin Chinese restaurant for the other, but we had many choices. The cobbled streets and the food market added an extra touch. We would definitely recommend a short stay visit.

Lovely place and lovely people.

Lovely place and lovely people. Nothing negative to say about this place and we will definitely be back. The Onslow Arms welcomed me and my partner when their kitchen was 5mins from closing. We were so grateful as we were not long off our flight from Australia. Both of us being so hungry, they fed us well with huge plates of fish & chips, beer and wine.

Guildford Is a very busy working small Town, full of up and down in its Hills. In Asperion hotel i found a nice Place to stay small but with a classy touch, the bed was incredibly confortable following the British standard, modern forniture in a renewed house, nothing missing, the young lady incharged at the reception was very kind in every assistance request. Confortable check out. Tasty breakfast with fresh cut fruit Salad a la carte menu and no gluten bread.
