I would not recommend that anyone use the accommodation at Guildford Manor. We did not stay as it was so bad. Even the "superior" room that we were shown was no improvement. As we did not use any of the facilities I can only make an assumption that they also would be subjected to the same standard of cleanliness.
We stayed in Guildford because of my husbands hospital stay. We visited the town centre and Cathedral. The shopping was excellent with such a wonderful variety of shops. The town is large and spread out. There is a park & ride but we managed to find a car parking space, near to the centre fairly easily. Everyone was so friendly, I’m already planning a shopping weekend with friends.
Although parking can be difficult and expensive the Angel is located central to Guildford's excellent shopping facilities. There is a great selection of Pubs, cafes and restaurants and easy access to pleasant walks.
The old High Street is broad and lined with some beautiful architecture. it looks prosperous with high-quality shops. The street is on a hill, and at the top end is a lovely view down the street and up onto green fields and a line of trees on the hill opposite, past the town. There is a jumble of small, attractive, period properties at the bottom of the hill (see photo). Beyond the High Street the centre is a big come-down, with a lot of empty shops. Guildford is suffering, which surprised me given its reputation as a rich town.
I booked an overnight stay here to spend quality time with my best friend prior to her surgery for a get away and relax and catch up. What we encountered after the stunning entrance and drive toward the property was a sub standard dirty shoe box of a room with no hot water, no one on reception until the following morning and an elusive manager to sort out, unhelpful staff of whom we had to continually ask where anything was. On complaining the next morning that we would really like a shower ( not cold) we were duly informed that as it was a twin room it was below their usual standard and we could use the spa facility for our morning shower, and would we like our breakfast for free? On hearing this from the reception staff i asked for a refund, in full rather than compensation, the staff informed me that they have an executive twin room which is much better, i stated to reception that was an unacceptable statement to make, and that they had knowingly accommodated us in a sub standard room and that no matter on capacity their systems should work accordingly ie hot water, we were offered a few more hours to stay ! I duly informed them that all we wanted to do was go home and shower! The manager was unable to be found although he had offered complimentary breakfasts to which i declined.
Easy and relaxing town to visit. Not alot to do, but there are nice walks in and around Guildford. Shopping is good and there are a variety of places to eat. Easy to get around the main high streets by foot. I would say a week is a good time to spend visiting Guildford.
Everything. Most beautiful hotel I’ve stayed at, accommodating and friendly staff, the building itself is a marvel and with so much history. The grounds are incredible. Thank you to Andrei who made my stay hassle free. I was even upgraded to a luxury stay in the dog friendly rooms and it was so relaxing and comfortable, it included a bathtub, in a bathroom where the windows open, it was lovely. I’ll never forget this place.
Guildford
Conveniently placed for an overnight stay in Guildford. The Drummond is a typical old english pub type hotel. The restaurant was extremely pleasant with a good variety in the menu and helpful staff. There are a couple of open fires giving a warm atmosphere. Plenty of locals use the bar and restaurant which is always a positive sign. All in all a pleasant stay.
Hotel room was spacious, clean. Lobby is cosy, swimming pool, sauna and steam bath are included in the room rate. Breakfast was, there is a choice of British and continental breakfast, also fresh fruit, coffee is good. Bed was comfortable, rooms are rather quiet. The hotel is close to the University campus.
very well run, really friendly helpful staff, really good cost effective stay over. not so far from town centre to be a problem, but far enough. The bar area was actually a better venue than where I was officially going. Don't expect a 5* hotel But perfect for stop over or passing through.
Lovely hotel within a walking distance from High Street. Friendly and personal reception. Good breakfast in a relaxed dining area. Room was clean and comfortable and the shower was excellent! Good selection of tv stations. Highly recommend this hotel in the lovely town of Guildford!
Fantastic place, after recently staying in a spate of different hotels, this has certainly been the best. Very welcoming upon arrival, rooms extremely clean, well decorated and with a mira shower system.
The hotel is in a fantastic location on the Main Street in Guildford. Conveniently located next door to “Bills” for a tasty breakfast.

Guildford
Wonderful 3 nights in this peaceful nature haven. Such a relaxing, quiet, yet welcoming environment. Lovely home. Spacious sitting room and kitchen, huge bathroom. Fantastic facilities. The swimming pool and sauna were so peaceful and at a perfect temperature for babies. Also there was a baby seat on wall in changing room to help mammies. Food in the hideaway was amazing and we met the most friendliest and most welcoming staff. Highly recommend walks in the local paths. Beautiful scenery passing blooming meadows full of nature. We saw deer, baby foxes, squirrels and lots more. We are just disappointed that we don't live there permanently.
