Set in a 15th-century building, The New Inn features a traditional restaurant, an ale bar and free Wi-Fi. Surrounded by Hampshire countryside, the inn is a 20-minute drive from Reading. Great location, great price, great breakfast - just sorry I didn’t get to try the evening menu which upon check-in looked amazing.
Located between Reading and Basingstoke, this charming 17th-century manor house, set in 35 acres of tranquil parkland on the Hampshire border, offers scenic views and free Wi-Fi access. It was a fantastic experience, great location and beautiful peaceful place to stay over the weekend. I would definitely recommend this place for everyone who would enjoy the beauty of countryside living.
Set in Hook in the Hampshire region, Willowbank Wine Down Tranquil Shepherds Hut features a garden. The property is 21 mi from Slough and free private parking is featured. Absolutely beautiful location and shepherd's hut, so peaceful and relaxing. Hosts were lovely and readily available if needed. Loved the resident goats and chickens, with fresh eggs everyday courtesy of the hens! The hot tub was a god send and we spent at least half of our time in it, no matter the weather! The hut itself was lovely and clean, well dressed and super cosy. All self-catering amenities available in the kitchen, we didn't need for anything. Overall we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
The Mill House Hotel and Restaurant is a restored Georgian building located on the banks of the River Loddon. Set within landscaped gardens, the hotel also features an award-winning restaurant. Pleasant small hotel. Very warm room. Shower was a let down but other than that clean and tidy and reasonable value
Located in Hook, Cherry Lodge features a garden. The guest house provides both free WiFi and free private parking. Everything was sparkling clean, the floors, bathroom, even shower doors, windowsills and the bedding was pristine. We did wonder about do it yourself breakfast but it was so easy, so much variety of cereal each separately funelled into our bowls, fruit, yoghurt, bread, butter, marmalades and spreads with fresh coffee and tea. We both slept soundly and comfortably, room good size, tea, coffee biscuits, TV excellent desk to work on and even a highly efficient fan. Well done you've thought of everything, thank you.
This romantic country house with stunning gardens has a health spa, swimming pools and a tennis court. The afternoon tea was excellent and the seating area was very comfortable. Everything about this experience was good. All Staff throughout the hotel, were very attentive and polite. We enjoyed walking around the beautiful grounds of the hotel.
Lovely big car park and nice looking property. Decent sized room, but would have loved to see some colour, perhaps in cushions and a few pictures as it was a bit bland. Climb into the bath to shower with a shower curtain, never our favourite. All just a bit tired, with a strangely bumpy floor. However, the price was reasonable and we didn’t pay for luxury.
Very central for dinner at Heckfield Place if you don't want to pay a ludicrous amount to stay there! The New Inn is about a mile from Heckfield Place but the busy road means it is not recommended to walk. The beds would benefit from a 'Topper' as the mattress was a little uncomfortable. The price for the room was exceedingly low for all the amenities you would expect in a hotel room.
The location and staff all superb. The pub is lovely. The accommodation needs improving, the bed was extremely uncomfortable and actually made the stay painful, woke up with stiff neck and sore. The bathroom was clean but dated.
Lovely oldie Inn, plenty of parking.Friendly staff. Food was to a good standard, but not overly special.Disappointed with tinned mushrooms, would prefer fresh. Only real gripe was the shower curtain sticking! I But all in all a very pleasant stay and would stay again.
This was our second visit here and it didn't disappoint. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff especially Ben. I asked for extra pillows and they were brought straight away. The bed was very comfortable, we had a fantastic meal next to a roaring log fire and the breakfast next morning was superb.
We were on a cycling trip in the area with our son. It was everything we needed. Friendly and attentive service, good quality fresh food hot food (nothing reheated in a microwave, tasty cooked to order hot breakfast, good parking ......all in all a very good stay and would return if in the area again. Take a drive to Hazeley Heath .....a lovely place to walk and cycle and great to take a drink and snack up to at sunset. Swinley Forest about 28 mins away with all it MTB cycling routes and plenty of other things to do in the area.
Hotel decor lovely. Lots of different drinking and eating areas.
