It was only a transit stop connecting two tours from Llandudno to Isle of Man. Despite some excellent sites, castles and museums, and restaurants it was not a worthy stop. We would have been better staying at the nearby beach and commuting in for the day. Youths on push bikes harassed us and we felt unsafe while waiting for an Uber.

It's a gritty little city full of history and character.

It's a gritty little city full of history and character. The castle and the church and the River Lune are all worth exploring. But there is a certain tattiness and tiredness around and we found the traffic around town aggressive. Try an artisanal bakery/cafe called Tuck near the station...great food and coffee - ambience.

We were walking distance of our Inn to the centre of town, didn't have to take the car, but beware, the drivers think they're at the race track. Lots of restaurants and cafe's tried many of them but the stand out was Vincenzo Cafe in the Nicks Centre, fabulous breakfasts and the cakes were great, sadly didn't have lunches there didn't have room after the breakfast but the lunch menu looked fantastic. If you want to visit the Museums don't try mid week , the "Council", in their wisdom, have closed them, not good for older people trying to avoid the weekend crowds.

Really friendly place, small enough to wander around, safe, cool vibe, great food and bars. The cathedral was such an unexpected wonderful experience - incense, children playing, impromptu choir practice, a child practicing organ, coffee/tea available, really lovely people all around. What a place!

Castle tour is very good and inexpensive.

Castle tour is very good and inexpensive. Williamson park is undergoing significant changes to the buildings so not all facilities available but it's a nice green space for walking etc. Local shopping is reasonable but some streets look run down. Plenty of places to eat.

Stunning city with gorgeous architecture and lots of history. Lots of very good pubs and eating places, both restaurants and takeaway. I visited the Castle, the Cathedral, and the City Museum. All are very interesting. I frequented numerous pubs and was pleased to find that most offered a good range of ales including ones from the local brewery. I spent a good bit of time just wandering around, going down side streets to see where I ended up. Lancaster appears to be set out in squares so it is virtually impossible to get lost. I found the city to be very friendly whether in the pubs, restaurants or shops. As Lancaster is a University city it seems to have a good vibe going on the whole time.

Our room was very elegant and clean. The shower pressure was amazing. We enjoyed using the coffee machine in the room with complimentary coffee pods provided. The location of the hotel is ideal to walk into Glasson or get a taxi into Lancaster. The cooked breakfast was also excellent with veggie and meat options provided. We will be back !
