Set on the banks of the River Lune, Holiday Inn Lancaster offers an indoor swimming pool, and sauna. Loved the grounds where I could walk my two dogs. Lovely pathway behind the hotel is perfect for bike riding or enjoying scenery. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. I got lucky and had a small refrigerator in my room. Travel to Lancaster a lot as only live 20 miles away. Tried to book a meal at Hotel but being New Years Eve was booked up. Booked meal at Greaves Restaurant which was very nice. Tried to book the Sun Hotel in Lancaster for a meal but of course being New Years Eve most places were booked up, as was the Sun. Lancaster is an interesting place to go to. Lots of history, shopping good plus lots of restaurants etc.
Lancaster has the university so it has a lot of visitors, there is plenty to do, you can visit the castle or the shopping centre which is very good. The pubs and restaurants are great the only thing that we didnt like was because of covid restrictions, it was so busy in the pubs that we couldn't get in, we sat outside one pub because of this. We have visited Lancaster quite a few times, so understand this is how things are because of covid, it wouldn't stop me and my husband going again.
We wanted to visit Lancaster as looked like a bit like Bath . Unfortunately was raining a majority of time and unfortunately we didnt get chance to go in the castle or Willismson pavillon as they were closed . Lots of nice bars and places to eat . Another place ticked off our list. Good stop over place if travelling upto the north lakes or scotland
Lancaster is a lovely City with plenty to do. The shopping centre is well set out and I really enjoyed the walk to and viewing Lancaster Castle. For lunch, I suggest Istanbul cafe which was excellent.
Lancaster was a great long weekend destination for us. There was a lovely combination of historical sightseeing and modern bars and restaurants. Even with less than great weather we still thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be coming back. The Borough was a great place to stay and eat. We liked the The Tap House for live music and drinks.
Plenty to see and do! Walks along the canal to quaint pubs and restaurants. Estuary walk leading to parks, castle prison, war memorial village , war and maritime museum , great shopping, bars and pubs.
