The Garden Room is located in Leiston. This bed and breakfast features a garden. The bed and breakfast comes with a flat-screen TV. A Full English/Irish breakfast is served daily at the property. The accommodation was a self contained building in the garden of the hosts. It was finished to a high standard, complete with en suite toilet and shower room. Tea/coffee making facilities were provided, as were excellent biscuits. Comfortable armchairs were available for watching the included TV. The bed was comfortable and everything was exceptionally clean and tidy. The host and his dog were very welcoming, informative and helpful, The village itself is quiet and peaceful and close to the typical Suffolk pebble beaches at Aldburgh, where we enjoyed an excellent fish supper looking out to sea, We were looking forward to a good nights sleep and a hearty breakfast. Unfortunately family events cut short our plans. My elderly mother's sudden illness lead to us leaving in the middle of the night. leaving a note of explanation for the host. He was very understanding, even phoning to check all was well. We certainly plan to return and would recommend this property to any couple looking for a restful visit to the east coast. One of the best places I have stayed using booking.com.

we didn't see much of Leiston but we did visit the abbey ruins just up the road which were very interesting. there was also an engineering museum opposite the hotel but we didn't have time to visit it.
Only had one evening walk there after a daughter and grandchildren had departed to their nearby camp site as Saxmundum. We went for a late evening walk, passed some lovely historical buildings/architecture and one or two hysterical bars (definitely passed those). Seemed a very nice small market town - attraction for us that it was fairly central to places we wanted to explore during the day (Southwold, Saxmundum, Aldeburgh) but wished we’d booked an extra night so could have seen more of Leiston.
The abbey was excellent (if you enjoy monastic ruins!), it is a much more extensive ruin than the abbey in Dunwich. The surrounding villages are also very picturesque, I would recommend visiting Dunwich, Aldeburgh and Thorpness as well. Framlingham castle is also worth a visit (you now have to pre-book and it isn't free). Leiston is a convenient location for visiting all of these places as well has having its own lovely abbey to visit!
The place seemed ok, was a nice short drive to Aldebrugh which is what I wanted but do not stay in this accommodation!!!! It does not state anywhere that it is a pub!!!!!! I went there for 2 nights (fri-sun) to get away for some peace n quiet and I suffered a night of a rammed pub with extremely loud music until 1pm.. When the young girl locked up n left I was left in property all by myself (no other guests were there) so if anything had happened or if I needed anything I was screwed!!! Due to this I did not stay for my second night 😔 I could not bare another night also being a sat night of that again.. this was hugely disappointing and felt that I had been deceived on booking.com because a bar available does not state to me that I would be staying in a room above a very rowdy/noisy pub!!!
We were staying overnight in Leiston in order to attend a music gig at the Film Theatre, which is a quirky little venue. We struck lucky in choosing to eat beforehand at the White Horse, where we enjoyed a delicious meal in their newly refurbished restaurant. No hesitation in highly recommending the White Horse, as all of the staff were extremely welcoming, attentive and eager to please. The next day we visited picturesque Thorpeness & Aldeburgh and also enjoyed rummaging around no less than 4 antique centres in the nearby vicinity
Leiston is in an excellent position for exploring the area. I spent a day at RSPB reserve, Minsmere, and also in my 3 days, went to Walberswick, Snape Maltings, Southwold, Thorpeness and Aldburgh, as well as walks on Dunwich Heath and along the coast. It was an easy stroll into the centre of Leiston where there are lots of places to eat, and also to a large cinema (where I saw Mary Poppins Returns!).
