It was a beautiful hidden away retreat. The house suited our family of 4 really well. The space was clean, in good condition and had a lovely character. It was such a peaceful spot and it was perfect for all of us (2 adults and two kids 12 & 14) to relax in. The garden was gorgeous and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting out for evening drinks and morning coffee. The host was really friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. We walked down to the River Wye (about 20 minute walk away) and went for a swim which was wonderful and came back for fish and chips from the Wye Fry which is just a few doors away from the cottage. We also picked up a few bits from the local shop which is also really close by- so it was easy to keep stocked up with what we needed.

Very charming place. Rooms are good, staff are really friendly and helpful. Food is delicious and has multiple options. Location is right on the river and they had nice live music and outdoor amenities. Wasn't on too late and everyone was respectful. Would happily stay again.

What guests said about Lydbrook:

Although the photo of the village field looks nice, Lydbrook...

Although the photo of the village field looks nice, Lydbrook isnt the most attractive or tranquil village close to this house and the main road is quite busy, but it gets nicer when you walk up the hill and is lovely in Lower Lydbrook just half a mile down the road near the river. Its a very convenient location for Symonds Yat and the Forest of Dean though. We loved its proximity to Pedalabikeaway which is amazing.

Lovely for exploring the Forest of Dean.

Lovely for exploring the Forest of Dean. Great dog walks in the area - symonds yat, soudley ponds, cannop ponds, or venture further into Monmouth (cleddon shoots / forest). Lovely cliff walk near Lynsey harbour and a fabulous icecream parlour / cake shop on the harbour.

Lovely country with walks in neighbourhood.

Lovely country with walks in neighbourhood. However other places required journey in car. Public transport difficult to find in this area. We self catered and enjoyed doing do, as local places were not able to accommodate such a large party of 16. Lydbrook is not that easy to get around if not familiar with the area. You need a good map and clement weather. Foot paths tend to run out or be overgrown and rather muddy. Difficult walking with young children. There are several places which are family friendly to visit within a few miles but expensive.

Super cosy, warm, great value for money.

Super cosy, warm, great value for money. WiFi was intermittent as was phone signal, but this is a reflection on location rather than cottage. Parking was a bit confusing, but that was made worse by the fact that we had a van as opposed to a car.
