The room itself was a bit basic, but the staff were kind and helpful and the pub setting was pretty wonderful. Breakfast was great. It was also very quiet; I heard no noise from the pub.

Maldon is a small country town with a few interesting shops some cafes and pubs to eat and drink in There are some good walks and the estuary has some great views and popular pubs. The swan in the town serves good food and on Wednesday all their excellent homemade burger meals are £10 ( almost half price)

Maldon is a lovely place for a short stopover - the High Street is very pretty and has some interesting independent shops plus a few useful chain stores. The Promenade is great for a bracing walk and plenty of food/coffee options should you need them.
