Featuring a spa bath, Blue Bell Cottage is located in Ollerton. The accommodations is 24 mi from Lincoln. Comfortable, lots of character, well equipped, Fireplace was a bonus, and added atmosphere. Low doorways were a challenge for some, but are part of the appeal of the cottage.
Offering free WiFi and garden views, Lavender House is an accommodations located in Edwinstowe. Located 2.6 mi from Sherwood Forest, the property features a garden and free private parking. Had a wonderful stay. Clean, modern set up. We were able to bring our house cat. The house is lovely and within a good walking distance of Sherwood Forest and Rufford Abbey. There are plenty of beer gardens and wonderful restaurants near by. We had a delightful weekend! Thank you x
A walk around the old town doesn't take long, but there are some interesting buildings to see. The mill run and the river border a small piece of land where there are a couple of benches. The old mill is a tea shop, which looked very nice, but sadly we were too late arriving before the closed notice appeared at the entrance. There are public areas nearby for walking which relate to the old railway.
Ollerton is the perfect location for all the local attractions. We traveled less than 20 minutes in any direction to the places we wanted to visit. Wheelgate Park, Sherwood Pines, GoApe, Clumber Park and Centre Parcs to name just a few things. Ollerton is a lovely village setting with its own local charm too.
Ollerton itself is not particularly attractive, but the Hotel is at Wellow, a village just outside the town. It is an exquisite small English village with a maypole on the green. There are many attractions scattered around the area, including the best unspoilt and original part of Sherwood Forest, accessible from nearby Edwinstowe, itself an attractive small town.
Delightful village with Hop Pole hotel food excellent and very inexpensive. Italian restaurant also excellent. Both well worth a visit.l Ollerton ideal for getting out and about as it is on the Xroads to lots of places and right on the edge of Sherwood Forest.
The quiet and relaxing location , the closeness to the woods and excellent walks , what a gem of a place 10 out 10 , the staff was very welcoming and advised us on walks and the history of the place, we enjoyed the bats at night , the staff was very warm and friendly
Wellow and old ollerton were lovely but wouldnt recommend new ollerton, slightly rundown.Visited Rufford park and thoresby which are worth a visit, both free of charge, also the Sherwood forest visitor centre, which have a choice of nature trails, good audio show about the history of the forest and Robin Hood, and a great cafe with all home cooking and ample portion size at a reasonable price.
