I have been going to Parkgate since a small child (I'm now 70) my parents used to take us, lots of fond memories. Obviously, Parkgate has changed a lot during those years, but it still remains a favourite place to visit.
Love the walk along the promenade, a few pubs and eating places to choose. It's a must to buy an ice-cream to eat while walking along the promenade.
Take a pair of binoculars to look out over the marshes at all the different species of birds

The location, food and staff were very good, as a solo traveller there are some very good places of interest around the Wirral area, there is information within the hotel about places of interest to visit and some hotel staff are able to give recommendations about interesting and worthwhile places to visit
The breakfasts are excellent and fulllfill all dietary requirements, evening meals could cater more for vegetarian appetites but on the whole very good
An enjoyable stay and would visit again

Parkgate is like a seaside town with the Edwardian promenade...
Parkgate is like a seaside town with the Edwardian promenade style 'sea' front. The buildings are unique again Edwardian style and the 'School House ' looks really interesting. I didn't know this place existed. Plenty of good pubs and eating places. We stayed at the 'Ship' which is an amazing hotel. And the area encourages you to go for exploratory walks. The bay used to be the River Dee which has silted up and is a sort of marshland with mini lakes dotted throughout. the view beyond is Wales and the hills . It makes spectacular views while walking along the 'sea' wall. Next to the Ship Hotel is an Ice Cream shop/cafe -where the staff of really lovely and friendly.
This is such a beautiful place - you would have to visit it to really appreciate it's charm and romantic atmosphere - we found it by accident and can't wait to visit again. What a couple of great days .

Great place for a weekend away, Found plenty of good places to eat and a great independent clothes shop. The ice cream shop seemed to get plenty of business even in November! Pleasant walk along the promenade with views over the marshland (Lovely if you are interested in bird watching)

Apart from the hotel and local pubs the holiday was really made by the glorious weather as we found little of interest in Parkgate itself. Ness Botanical Gardens was excellent and well worth the ten minute drive.

Having grown up here, it was great to have an excellent base to revisit many places of personal significance on the Wirral, and to meet up with relatives. The Wirral Way and King Charles III coastal path provided an excellent walk to West Kirby (good bus service for return!). Good selection of places to eat on The Parade itself, and Nicholl's ice cream never fails to disappoint!! The marshes provide a wonderful haven for much birdlife, and if that's your thing, you MUST visit RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands. Amazing!! So many places to visit are within easy reach by car. Chester is also accessible by bus from Parkgate Parade.

Overall, a good choice for us, offering convenient access to all the places we wanted to visit and our chosen activities while staying in Parkgate for 2 nights.
We had one issue while staying there and the owner responded quickly to resolve it satisfactorily.

The little terraced cottage was delightfully and tastefully decorated throughout, scrupulously clean and it was ideal for visiting around the Wirral. Handy for the Wirral Way and Parkgate ‘front’. Bed was comfy and kitchen had all you’d need.

The location was perfect for visiting Parkgate and surrounding area. This is a self catering property with a fully fitted kitchen. However, we only used the toaster for making a breakfast.
