Millbrook offers bed and breakfast accommodations on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Sheffield is 16 mi away. This is a nice, peaceful B&B to stay at - it’s also very spacious with a kitchen and an upstairs sitting area. The owners are very friendly and we loved chatting with them at breakfast.
Lyndene provides accommodations with a garden and free WiFi, and is located in Penistone. Lyndene was amazing - beautiful, newly renovated house and room with everything that one may need during the stay. My family felt like home there - it was a pleasure to come back to it in the evening after a day in wilderness. Extremely kind host who made us feel more like friends than clients. Breakfast was delicious (my son says: 'fantastically delicious' :) The only minus - one has to leave it at some point :) Highly recommended for anyone - either on a business trip or holidays!

Dunford Bridge below the dam for walking & cycling along the old disused railway line toward Penistone. Holmfirth town for bimbling around & cafes. Fox House Inn is great for evening meals J Brindon Addy Farm shop does the best beef steaks, lamb and pork for miles around (Now does sandwiches) Hade Edge good for walking around reservoirs and forest walks.
Penistone is a traditional market town, high up on the edge of the Peak District. It has a lovely market (on a Thursday) which has quite a French feel to it, several individual shops, an excellent independent cinema and one or two really lovely cafes. There are wonderful walks in the countryside around and, of course, it is a stopping point on the trans pennine trail.

Ideally located for my work trip. Very welcoming owners who offered us a 7.30 breakfast on Saturday before even asking. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The facilities were of a high standard and much nicer than staying in a corporate hotel. Very close to restaurants, pubs and even a fish and chip shop opposite.

The hosts Di and David were lovely and welcoming, the rooms were cleaner and nicer than most hotels and the scrambled eggs for breakfast were genuinely the nicest I’d ever had!

Bar area and food was good, although lacking in atmosphere as no-one else was in the bar or staying at the hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
