Food was great l had an evening meal, food was excellent, l also had breakfast included with my room, also very well catered, and the cooked food and great, fresh coffee too. I was well looked after by staff and they accomodated me, with my mobility problems was given a room with fewer stairs. Lady on the desk was very polite and made my stay so pleasant.

Everything about the property was very good. Cleanliness, comfort and finished to a high standard in all rooms. It was lovely to come back to such a warm welcoming property at the end of each day. Communication with Sarah was great and the treats left for our arrival an added bonus - thank you! The location was great for us to visit friends, but for all areas of this part of Cumbria too.

We have friends who moved from Manchester to Abbeytown a good few months ago, friends who’s home we used to visit to watch big football matches, big boxing matches etc. We’ve often spoke about visiting them for future events, not just sport, but just to see them for a catchup, good few drinks, a takeaway, then maybe one of us sleep on the couch, and the other 2 of us on blow up beds on the floor, which wouldn’t be ideal, because it’s not a very big room, although we’d be very grateful. Then one of the boy’s discovered the Wheatsheaf, the pub has an apartment above it, and what a fantastic place to stay, very spacious, very clean, beautiful big kitchen with big dining table, beautiful big living room, i think the only room to not have a tv is the bathroom, as soon as you walk in, there’s information on local takeaway’s that deliver, there’s a local shop a stone’s throw away with everything you need, but the apartment has stuff to help you on your way, coffee, tea, sugar, milk, toilet roll, plenty of fresh towels. The pub itself is a nice place for a drink, and it has a fantastic pool table with a decent cloth and balls, there’s a couple of cue’s there that are better than our own, plus it’s only 50p a game. This place is a little Gem for us, we spent a fantastic night in there, we’ll definitely be staying again in the near future, we highly recommend it!!!!!

The Golf Course is the main reason we go here; it is a hidden gem and a superb test of your game. The people there are so friendly and welcoming to you from start to finish, if you have not played it then definitely arrange it. We went to The Balmoral Pub for dinner, which was excellent and again the staff were attentive and friendly. We watched England beat Mexico in there, so overall it was a great night.

Lovely area!

Lovely area! Lots of history that we learned while there, there are plenty information boards along the walk on the lovely prom that teaches the history of Siloth. Also, is only a 40 minute drive to Carlisle if you want to visit there, we did and loved the castle there and the shopping!

It was a red hot bank holiday weekend but we were only able to stay one night. Silloth was setting up for its carnival and we enjoyed the local crafts, stalls and rides etc. It was really nice to see new businesses open and others that had been refurbished. Now in my 50’s, I have enjoyed holidays and weekends in Silloth since I was a baby, going every year, sometimes more than once. I have seen Silloth go from a bustling holiday destination in the 80’s and 90’s then becoming quite run down. It’s great to see people now flocking there and the Town improving and businesses thriving. It has a special place in my heart.

An interesting planned resort which is very different from anywhere else on the Cumberland coast. Historically interesting. The town is separated from the sea by a wide Green. Great sunsets over the Solway Firth facing Scotland.
