The check in was easy and the staff went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Breakfast choices were excellent, gluten-free options too. The room was very well appointed with an art-deco feel, but not cluttered. We really liked the power shower.

I ended up at the Black Horse after being stranded at Peterborough due to an LNER situation - I tried booking hotels in town and they had run out of spaces so I randomly chose a reasonably priced one that was accessible - which ended up being the Black Horse. It looked very nice from the photos and lived up to this image - it's a gorgeous place - an old-fashioned inn with a restaurant, bar and rooms, beautifully decorated. The young woman on duty who checked me in (I can't remember her name but she was great) was extremely welcoming, reassuring and accommodating. The dinner was exceptional - the best gluten-free fish and chips I have tasted! (Coeliacs should check if the tartare sauce is gluten free though) It was great to be so warm and well-fed in such a nice environment after being stuck on the train and then a cold platform for several hours. I'd definitely recommend this place. My room was large and comfortable with space to work and a really good shower. They even let me work remotely the next morning teaching music online no bother! (In fact I got a round of applause from the locals in bar next door when I finished :D) Altogether very friendly, comfortable, amenable and relaxed place. The young bar staff were also great - relaxed, resourceful and accommodating. I'd definitely choose to stay here if I was in the area again, absolutely.

The location was great. The establishment was very charming and well appointed. I had a delicious lunch and breakfast. In fact, the Eggs Royale was the most delicious breakfast egg dish, so please compliment the chef on my behalf. Lastly, the staff was the most attentive, which I truly appreciated.

Love the old English feel to this place, perfect location for walking to the train station (cross country to Stanford airport, Cambridge, Birmingham, or single stop on that line to Peterborough East Coast main line). Town is a lost gem waiting to be discovered. Wonderful fresh English breakfast everyday.

    Easy access to Stamford which is a lively place to visit. Enjoyed watching the water sports but expensive to participate. Clubhouse was very busy on Friday night, 1 hour wait for food. Choice of nearby takeaway deliveries if you don't want to cook.
