Nice little place, definitely has everything you can need. Convenience store, Chinese take away (delicious) fish and chips place, pub and fancy Italian restaurant. Most of food places are not working in Mondays.
Lovely small town. The cottage is lovely, close to a beautiful walk alond the river. Wolsingham is a quiet place, dont be surprised to see ducks walking down the small streets! There are two supermarkets close by which stay open late. The bakery, and other shops seem to shut early, around 3.30.
It's handily placed for touring the Pennine dales as well as having access to Durham. Also if you are there at the weekend you can easily walk one of the many routes up Weardale to Stanhope, get a great afternoon tea at the railway station and a steam train back - just check the train times. There is a lovey Italian restaurant in the village open 7 days a week and plenty of pubs although none seem to serve food on a Sunday evening.
Great village with good facilities. Plenty of cafes and shops to cover everything. The pubs are very welcoming and don't give the "you're in a locals seat" feel. There is an exceptional footpath network and no need to take your car out if you don't want to.
There are so many villages and towns in this area but I'd highly recommended staying in the one. It has everything you need, including a wonderful coffee shop, a couple of pubs that do food as well and a spar. It's close to nearby towns like Bishop Auckland, the reservoir, and the road that goes right through the pennines to the highest summet.
Lovely 'feel' to the village. Not particularly touristy in March but still things going on. We didn't eat out because we had our dog with us but the chippy is excellent and there are dog friendly pubs. Great walks from the village too
