Very different feel from other neighboring Islands.
Very different feel from other neighboring Islands. Loved it but would have stayed a day or two less (we were there for 4+ days and at tail-end of season). Many great restaurants and shops but more overall European in feel than traditional Island Greece. Very friendly people! Would say it has more of an Athens feel (on a much smaller, less crowded scale). Very easy to get around but be prepared to walk hills! Definitely a hot spot for boatersBoyanowski - Scored 1010

Magnificent Venetian architecture and beautiful marble streets. Daily swim at the gorgeous Asteria beach was such a highlight too. This town was a wonderful surprise and I’m so glad I decided to include it in my itinerary.

Ermoupolis is an incredible place, with beautiful old buildings, and long history. Very nice places to stay, and a lot of nice restaurants to go, witth various options of food. You may enjoy a walk during sunset across seaside road, where you will appreciate your choice to go there.

Ermoupoli is cheaper than Paros, Naxos. You need a car or scooter to reach the beach of Kini. Taverna next to the water, shadow, nice sand, clear water, no music, friendly Greek people. Our top beach!!

Great place to stay in Syros.
Great place to stay in Syros. The architecture of the town is stunning and it has a city feel with a seaside location. The old town up in the hills is also worth a visit (5 euro taxi journey) for the gorgeous views and more classic Cycladic whitewashed buildings and streets. The Art House is a spacious well equipped house and just what we wanted. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom had plenty of toiletries which was much appreciated. There’s a lot of space downstairs with a very comfortable sitting area and a dining table. There was a twenty minute walk into the very centre of town which was fine.
