You can notice there is a lot of thought behind the design of the whole property, everything is clean and relaxing and cared for. The housekeeper is a gem and was quick to clean our room everyday and ensured we had lots of towels, cold water bottles and new toiletries :). Also Fay is quick to respond if you need help with anything and makes sure that everything goes smoothly. The breakfast is amazing, makes use of local products, and is prepared freshly for you. The location is perfect as it is less than a 5 min walk to the city centre with lots of restaurants and some mini markets, while being out of the noise. If you rent a car, lots of other beautiful beaches are within a 45 min drive. Lastly, the lovely team at Adama made us feel welcome and ensured that we had a great and comfortable stay across all 13 nights.

Matala is a lively, colourful, music-centred little town, with a great selection of restaurants along the beach and the main promenade. A few small markets are at strategic points along the main street and stay open until late. The beach is nice with part of it free to access, while sun loungers and umbrellas are also available to rent at a reasonable price. The beautiful reef, with its famous caves, provides a stunning backdrop, and watching the sunset is a must. It can get quite windy at times, which can make spending time on the beach less pleasant. Fortunately, the cafés, restaurants, and shops offer a great alternative. The caves can be visited throughout the day, and a short climb up to them offers stunning views over the beach and sea. There are also a couple of nice cocktail bars in town, some of which are perfect spots for an aperitif while enjoying breathtaking views of the coastline. Musicians play at various establishments almost every evening, adding greatly to Matala’s lively atmosphere and unique charm.

Matala is a colorful, beautiful, and lively little town with a great atmosphere. It is perfect for beach days and a good starting point for day trips to nearby museums and archaeological sites. There is a huge selection of good restaurants. It is a good idea to arrive by car if you want to go on lots of trips and be independent. However, there are also bus connections, e.g. to Heraklion.

Matala is something different and when you there you just fell in love. Of course if you are looking for the crystal clear water, Matala is not the one, even though the surronding landscape is something beautiful. Nights in Matala can't be boring. There is always something to do and have fun. It is defenitley worth a visit.

Matala is one of those places you didn't know you needed to visit until you go.. and then never want to leave. A long, sandy beach, with beautiful clear water, Matala is big enough to have a wide selection of places to eat & shop and yet not be too big. And in Scala & George's Yard it has two very, VERY good restaurants.

Such a beautiful little seaside village that comes to life at night. Could have stayed longer and enjoyed the views, vibes and people. Also we found the pricing cheaper for food and drinks. I must stop

The room was clean and relatively new looking.

The room was clean and relatively new looking. There is no wifi or tv in room. They have wifi at the bar and should be able to get it to rooms with routers but have not bothered. The bed was a disaster, it was hardest bed I have ever tried to sleep on. My wife and I both hardly slept and had sore back in the morning. We have been travelling for over 5 weeks had no problem with any other beds.

The hotel is well located, just a 5-minute walk from the center of Matala. It’s outside the busiest area, so it’s quieter and less noisy, which we really appreciated. The swimming pool is very nice (although it would be even better if there was a shower nearby to remove the sand from the beach). Rooms are simple but correct, with a small fridge and a terrace. On the top floor, the rooms are more spacious, have better views and share a large terrace. Everything was clean and well maintained. We didn’t try the breakfast.
