Oia really is hard to believe it's real unless you've been there and seen it for yourself. The stairs down to Amoudi Bay are everything you might expect and more. But navigating them is not for the unfit or faint of heart. They are true cobblestones that slant down - so when going down, you need to carefully navigate them to be sure you don't slip and fall. And going up is......exactly what you might think going up 200+ cobblestone steps up the side of a caldera might be. But so worth it! The main street of Oia is filled with wonderful little shops and restaurants. My one caution is the crowds, especially between about 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Cruise ships bring literally hoards of people and the streets are so narrow, and people are stopping and queuing up to try to take photos - if you are trying to navigate the main street and stairs within the vicinity during the late morning/mid-afternoon to early evening, plan on doing it slowly, packed with people, stopping and going single file. If you want to experience Oia in a less crowded way, do it before 10 a.m. or after 7 p.m.
Oia is beautiful and unique and that’s why everyone goes there. After a couple days, the cruise ship crowds became aggravating. Once they left in the evening, Oia was enjoyable. Very neat place but extremely touristy! We spent four days which included travel to other towns on the island and Akrotiri. My suggestion is that if you enjoy privacy and smaller crowds, stay outside the main towns and rent a car. Eat where the locals eat. Then Santorini is wonderful! If you merely remains in Oia and Fira, it’s a tourist nightmare of constant lines of people who don’t was to buy anything, constantly complain, and state quite loudly that they just want to go back the cruise ship. Also all the people who are imitating everyone else and taking the popular Instagram Oia pics (blue domed church and such) are very annoying as they’ll just stop in the middle of hundreds of people on steep narrow streets. Not the place for me which is not a fault of Oia (locals and merchants were wonderful) it’s all of us tourists who ruin it through ignorance and poor manners.
Oia is amazing for a day, maybe 2. Get out before 9am and you will have free reign to the whole town for any picturesque spot you want. Afte 10am you will be waiting in lines to get to the best spots. 2 must do's if you have time, trek down to Amouti bay in your suit, hike around the point and jump off the island. Be sure to hit Dimitris for lunch when you're down swimming. The second must do is a sunset cruise, you will get views of the island liek you cannot imagine, and check the red sand and black sand beaches off the to do list.
We stayed in Finikia a 15-20 minute walk from Oia. It was a good way to avoid the bus/ taxi/ car parking of getting to Oia for the sunset but it was also away from many of the restaurants and activities that I think are best accessed from Fira. We actually enjoyed the Santorini sunset at Fira better than Oia - but we did get a great seat at Esperisma in Fira (book well ahead), whereas we were battling crowds for the view in Oia.
Very busy town, you must book all restaurants ahead. Be ready for crowds. The views are beautiful from there, but of course there are more spots to see the sunset that only at Oia. Shame how much trash there is everywhere along the roads on your way. Lot's of buses come there with the tourists that are going for one day sightseeing every day. If you rent a car, make sure it's small. We had a lovely meal at the seaside, which means you need to walk the steps down which was an adventure on it's own. When visiting Santorini, Akrotiri and the Fira archeological museum are very interesting to see for those who want to know more of the remarkable history.
The actual town of Oia is somewhere I would only visit once. It was incredibly crowded and just not enjoyable with hoards of people on tiny streets and paths all trying to see the sun set. If I were to visit Santorini again I would explore other parts of the island ( we were elsewhere for 5 days) as it really is beautiful.
We ended staying an extra night in Santorini and needed to book a hotel last minute. we stayed here and it was the BEST choice we could had made. Sam (the mgr) was SUPER nice and welcoming. He not only was very welcoming but him and another gentleman helped us with our luggage to our room. The swimming pool was refreshing and the view is breathtaking. I wish so much we had booked this hotel from the beginning. I can not say THANK YOU enough to the great hospitality that was given to sister and I. I highly recommend this place.
I could say that this hotel has the best location in Oia, perfect for beautiful pictures near to the blue domes, which you can see from your room. On top of that, they have another private spot where you can see the sunset. People get around the hotel location to take pictures, being a guest of the hotel gives you a great advantage! People working in the hotel are super nice and responsible, they book tours for you, schedule transportation to the airport, restaurants, etc. Definitely the place to stay if you are in Santorini.
Hotel in the main centre of Oia with 3 entrances (all of them leading you to the most important city spots). Houses which are included in the complex are very traditional and give a real greek feeling. Swimming pool with an amazing view. Breakfast with a lot of options, also greek specialities. Sunset terrace allowed us to enjoy sun going down without all the crowds in the most popular sunset spots. I would definitely come back and will recommend this hotel to my friends planning trip to Santorini.
Oia

Oia
Best staff in Santorini - they make you feel like home, and they are your friends. Location is perfect, very close to Oia center, clean rooms, good facilities. Pool is also clean and there are enough sunbeds for everyone. The hotel’s restaurant serves very good food for dinner. In my opinion this hotel is one of the best ones at a fair price in this location. Definitely when in Oia, we’ll come back here.
Oia
The place was absolutely stunning - when I think of Santorini, the Morfi Cave house completely embodies the beauty of the island. It was very clean and well located in central Oia, close to all the great shops and restaurants. The hot tub and balcony were such a bonus for our stay and I couldn't have asked for a better host - Elizabeth and her team were exceptionally great!
Stayed here to get married and honeymoon. Room was exceptional and the service from Ned was the best we received in all 12 days across all of Greece. He helped us find additional tours, rental car, & sites to see. I can’t imagine any better hotel in all of Santorini. Ned made us feel like we showed up as tourists and left as friends. We hope to come back!
The hotel location is absolutely amazing, in the heart of Oía, with a great view of the Caldera of Santorini. Great breakfast is included. Rooms could be bigger but it is great to wake up, have breakfast or drink a good wine looking at that amazing view. Employees of the hotel are quite nice and careful with all the details.
The staff of this hotel are OUTSTANDING! They go above and beyond to make it a memorable stay. You cannot help but notice how sincere and accommodating they are. Absolutely LOVELY people who just want you to have a stress free time in breathtaking Santorini! I will remember them fondly!
The hotel and the staff made our stay very comfortable. The swimming pool is great (there are two of them!) and had a really spectacular view. Since there you can walk to the Oia center and see the amazing sunset of Santorini. Thank you Tasos, the manager, for being a great host.
Everything! The location was perfect, very close to Oía within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The rooms were so nice and comfortable, great views from the deck. Really recommended if you are going to Santorini!
The view from the room is amazing. We had breakfast from our private balcony, with wonderful view on oia, caldera and volcano. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is in the center of oia, a very nice spot in Santorini.
We really loved the room and bathroom. Very modern, spacious & clean, and was exactly what I pictured for a hotel in Santorini. We loved the breakfast and having our own terrace with a plunge pool to enjoy.
Very nice hotel, situated within an easy walk to Oia or Finikia. Very friendly helpful host. Great view looking towards the islands to the north of Santorini.
beautiful hotel in the heart of Santorini
