Recently renovated property near town but still very quiet. It is very clean and the staff is very nice. We were leaving early and they also arranged for some sandwiches, a piece of cake and fruit to take with us to the airport.

The stay was perfect and super relaxing! Thanks again to the staff and especially the super helpful and friendly receptionists . The seafront restaurant was amazing, especially the breakfast buffet, and the waiters at dinner were very helpful. The room was cleaned every day. During this vacation, we stayed in a total of four hotels. But the Hotel Mato surpassed them all with its charm and individuality. Fofi and her team know how to create an atmosphere that makes you feel like you're part of a family. Our room had a breathtaking view of Skiathos Town and was beautifully furnished. The breakfast room feels like you've stepped into another century with its lovely decor. You constantly discover new details. The breakfast itself was opulent and there were new highlights every day. Fofi has her own cats and lovingly cares for other stray cats. So there were always 6-7 cats in the courtyard that you could pet, which we enjoyed doing. Fofi was also always available when we needed recommendations or help. All in all, it was an extraordinary and wonderful experience. If we ever come back to Skiathos, we will definitely stay only at this hotel again.

A pretty town, plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes, but all in an attractive setting of tree-lined cobbled streets and scenic port area. We would recommend Nikos taverna in the pedestrian street for excellent grilled food and efficient service-it’s always packed and there’s good reason for that- also the fish taverna on the port., which also serves meat dishes and traditional Greek cuisine. Very reasonable prices, good food and lovely staff. For breakfast, coffee and a nice little place to people-watch, we loved the Foodie cafe in the pedestrian street. Friendly staff and good service.

Better than we expected......various areas to visit, a busy promenade with many shops and restaurants, the port area with some lovely tavernas overlooking the sea, we liked the local beach Megali Ammos which was walkable from our hotel and had 3/4 lovely restaurants...our favourite was the Thessaloniki. Great bus service every 10 mins. Not too many families so ideal for couples or singles. Plenty of boat trip options, etc.

We liked Skiathos Garden theatre, Alexandros Papadiamantis...

We liked Skiathos Garden theatre, Alexandros Papadiamantis museum, gift shops and coffee shops, the Bourtzi peninsula and Maritime museum. Our favourite restaurants were: Asprolithos, Dinos, Manavaki, Pikantiko, O Batis, Phaos. It's very easy to walk around Skiathos Town. There are boat trips to various beaches and Skopelos Mamma Mia tour. There's a Greek dance workshop at Skiathos Garden Theatre on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Skiathos Town has something for everyone - there are lots of...

Skiathos Town has something for everyone - there are lots of good quality bars and restaurants and boat / ferry trips going to anywhere you want to go - all cheaper than the UK. Skopelos is an excellent day trip or long stay option.

Skiathos is was one of the most beautiful places I have visited. We have already looked at going again next year. The island is easy to get around, there are an abundance of restaurant's and bars. The bus's are so easy and cheap to use, so getting to the beaches and around is so easy. Hiring a quad is a must.

Vibrant town full of bars and restaurants in tight , usually traffic free streets. Most of the traffic is mopeds, as many of the streets have steps from when it used to be donkey traffic. Food is not cheap, probably slightly dearer than the Uk, but there are some excellent restaurants that are only a touch dearer than the not so good. You just have to find them! Hire car is not required, as there is an excellent bus service, right from the airport. Max 3€ per trip The town is on a hill going up from the port, so expect to do some walking up steps if you want to see all of the town. No loud music that we came across which was good. Don’t be deterred by the Mamma Mia tours!😆

The property was perfect. Immaculate condition and we couldn’t have asked for anything else. The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to help. The hotel is less than a 5 minute walk into Skiathos town and 1 minute from the bus stop where busses pass every 5-10 minutes- perfect location for both the town and access to the beaches/rest of the island! We loved the pool, never had to rush for sun-beds as there were plenty for everyone. Also never had problems with noise and air con was great.

Good value hotel in the heart of Skiathos town, Room was clean, bed was comfortable, shower was good, a/c worked well, staff were friendly and helpful. Only stayed for a night prior to catching the ferry to Skopelos, but would happily stay for longer. Rate included breakfast which is taken at small restaurant opposite. Excellent value for money.

Fantastic family run hidden gem in the centre of Skiathos town. Beautifully decorated inside and out. Lovely staff, where nothing is too much trouble. Leah the owner, puts out breakfast items at no extra cost every morning. The star of this hotel has to be the roof terrace. A lovely shaded area with sunbeds, quiet and peaceful.
