Our stay at Palambak Resort was an unforgettable experience and we loved every moment of it. We were the only people on the island with two staff members, who made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We booked the bungalow for 4 nights and I was a bit worried that I'll get bored, but there were plenty of things to do - we kayaked around the island, walked around it, we watched turtles, crabs, passing birds and sunsets and sunrises. We read, slept and chilled and played games which were free to borrow from the reception. We also went on an island hopping tour, which is more of a snorkeling tour, and saw lots of beautiful fishes (bring SPF 50 sunscreen or wear shorts and long sleeves when snorkeling - we burned our backs off despite reaplying SPF 30). Yes - it was hot at night, yes - the generator was a bit loud and yes - the electricity and hence the fan wasn't available throughout the night, but...It's not Maldives, it's an uninhabited island, so don't expect luxury - if you love some quiet life, this place will be great for you. We had no issues with mosquitoes, the food was plenty and absolutely amazing (a choice of breakfast and a freshly caught fish or chicken with rice and veggies for lunch and dinner; every meal came with fruit). The owner Claudine was super caring and helped us organise everything, including transport to/from the island and the island hopping tour.

An amazing place (could be a 12 out of 10)..

Lukas, Irawan and staff gave our family a very personalized, fun and accommodating experience in an already magical island. White sand beach with crystal clear, warm waters housing schools of fish and coral for snorkeling at the shoreline. I loved the homecooked meals - local foods, fish and taste. They created a special lobster candlelight dinner on sunset beach for Father's Day, played games/soccer with the kids, homemade stone oven pizza one night, movie night on the beach, a trip to explore a hidden jungle cave (magical!), learning tour of a local clinic and village tour ending in karaoke. Very few mosquitos. +Wifi- good. We were able to fully unplug & extended our stay to 5 nights.

It was an amazing stay. Deni was really attentive and made me feel not as a guest, but as a part of the family. The coral reefs surrounding the property were really nice and provided a good opportunity to snorkel. All in all, would stay again!

We had an amazing time at Ira’s! The location is very isolated so you really do feel like you’re alone on a tropical island. Good snorkelling off the beach out front. We were able to get in some exercise by walking around the island (50 mins) or by playing volleyball. The huts are basic but have everything you need - bed, mosquito net, shelves, hooks and two comfy chairs on the porch. The three guys running the place were very kind and friendly, and we always had delicious meals. We took the public boat from Singkil (50k/person) and then Viki arranged for a driver to pick us up in Balai (300k/person). We were heading to Tailana after so Viki also arranged someone to pick us up and drive us there. Both boat drivers were super friendly and arrived on time. Like everyone says, it’s a journey to get there, but it’s totally worth it!
