Achill Cliff House Hotel overlooks Tramore Beach and the Atlantic Ocean, and has a restaurant serving local produce, free parking, and a relaxing sauna for guests. What a wonderful surprise this location was. Very friendly staff at check-in. She provided suggestions for some local scenic highlights that were spot on. Room was comfortable and quiet, good amenities. Dinner was excellent and staff managed everything expertly even though a large group arrived just after we were seated. Breakfast staff and food were great. Last but not least, the view from the hotel is spectacular. We enjoyed a drink up in the sitting room overlooking the sea and cliffs.

Atlantic Breeze is located in Keel, 27 mi from Westport. Free private parking is available on site. Some rooms have a seating area for your convenience. Mary was incredibly nice! The rooms were extremely clean! The back porch is enclosed with glass it has a wonderful view of the cliffs, ocean and some sheep. She was very nice to my daughter. My daughter did not want to leave. She helped us find activities that everyone in the family will like. My husband says give her a +AAA and my daughter says 500 stars! We have been to Ireland many times but this has by far been one our favorite place to stay!

9 Corrymore Village is located in Keel. The property has mountain views. The vacation home features 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a TV, a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a patio with sea views. View was outstanding. On arrival the property was not properly cleaned and the caretaker addressed by coming over when we went to dinner with a crew and cleaned to our satisfaction. Very good value.
The scenery in Keel and the whole of Achill Island is stunning.....imposing mountains, sheer cliffs, fabulous bogs and attractive beaches. We did a couple of really enjoyable walks starting off at Dugort, one a loop walk that went through a peat bog (on a dry path, about 45 minutes) and another that took us to the deserted village (about 1 and a half hours there and back). Gielty's pub was a warm and friendly place for dinner and The Beehive was good for a lighter meal or coffee. Back on the mainland Ballycroy National Park has a fabulous cafe, Ginger and Wild, which served the best vegetable soup ever, great after a walk on the nearby boardwalk. There are several art galleries in the area that are worth a visit.
If you like quiet and splendid scenery, you'll enjoy Keel. The drive to the end of Achill Island is high above a steep, rocky coastline where shaggy sheep roam wild. At the end is a beautiful sandy beach, great for walking. The beach in Keel is also lovely and expansive. It was windy and chilly when we were there in May but still nice to walk and watch the surf school students tackle the waves. Nearby is the deserted village of Slievemore, with the remains of about 80 stone 19th century huts along the hillside. There are only a handful of restaurants, several quite upscale for this casual-looking community, but our favourite was Geilty's Bar in neighbouring Dooagh.

Mary is an excellent host. The room was spotless with fresh towels daily. Mary dropped in some of her freshly baked scones and buns to enjoy before we headed out each evening. Mary also offered us a lift into Keel each evening but we decided to walk instead as it was a nice short walk. Breakfast was also delicious. Overall, a very nice stay.
